Miiverse has shut down

IMG_5465.JPG

Nintendo has pulled the plug on Miiverse, tonight. The service ran 5 years, letting users on the 3DS and Wii U draw pictures and share screenshots online. Users, and even Nintendo staff took a moment to say their farewells to the short-lived community. It even trended on social media for a brief moment, as people posted their favorite images, silly posts, and artwork. Trying to access Miiverse will now result in an error code on Nintendo consoles.

I loved how this little service brought everyone together, and it made playing games have a sense of teamwork and community rather than being alone in your travels. I get why it was shut down, like people were paid to moderate this
Maybe something similar once the Switch online service started. I mean the switch doesn't even have a stylus.

I Never really did get to play around with miiverse much, so I won't really miss it. The few posts that I have seen from best of collages were gold. I'd love to see a successor on the switch, maybe Nintendo is working on something to launch with their online service.

What I'm wondering is what Nintendo will do with the Wii U home plaza now there's no more Miiverse. It's sad to think that already the Wii U and 3DS is already slowly coming to full discontinuation :(

Unless Nintendo updates the game, allowing players to upload, play and comment on a proprietary online service for Mario Maker.

I mean, it was bound to happen eventually.
That's true, but it seems odd that it'd happen this soon. IIRC it was a few years into the 3DS' lifetime by the time Flipnote Hatena shut down, but the Switch has been out for not even a year now.

Miiverse was a community that I personally loved. I think it was truly underrated for what it was. There were so many artists like me, who took the time and effort to post incredible images. People carrying on funny conversations, and even sometimes people asking questions about a game. I even remember asking how to do something in Wind Waker HD a few times.

It's sad that Miiverse is dead. But, I'm hoping that the switch will have something similar in the distant future.

Rest in spaghetti noodles Miiverse. You were a bad meme, but still entertaining.

I was never an active user on that thing but... this is very sad. I only used for keeping pics of games such as Twilight Princess and Wind Waker

I like how the mods the let it do whatever for the last hour. So many shitposts...

Aw man really? I shoulda posted my deviantART information! You weren't allowed to do that normally but I would've maybe at least grew my following by some if I did. :(

Pretty much this, I can't believe all the hate this is getting. I've never even run into a toxicity issue on Miiverse, the only hiccup I ever had was making a Trump joke on an Ace Attorney screenshot featuring a drone. Somehow, that got flagged, but a whole lot of sex jokes about underage girls in the same game series didn't. GG Nintendo.

Anyway sucks to be y'all who never had good experiences with it I guess, I have great memories with Wind Waker HD. I'm really upset about how some of its functionality is basically dead now.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
