It would be fun if an elimination tournament could be held between users, who would compete one by one on an online mini-game, until the decisive final match, having a certain amount of XPs as a prize (for the first three on the podium).
This could take place in two possible, different ways, one that is more fun, based on the skill of the challengers, but difficult to implement technically, and one that is simpler and more easily accomplished, but based on chance and luck.
1) First alternative. Users could challenge each other, one by one, in a simple real-time arcade game (e.g., Pong, Airhockey, etc.) or slightly more complex puzzle game (Tetris, Arkanoid, Dr. Mario etc.) trying to win 2 out of 3 games, and continuing in a pyramidal tournament until the final match. From a technical point of view, I have no idea whether this is easily achievable, since different controls would have to be implemented for phone/tablet (touchscreen) and others for PC (keyboard);
2) Second alternative. One could use a much simpler method (easily achievable, trivial, less compelling, and based entirely on luck), such as alternative drawing of cards from a "deck" by the players, where the highest wins (by doing three draws). Or simulating a virtual fight between 2 characters, each randomly paired to a user, with the final outcome determined by the computer.
These are just a few sketchy and perhaps trivial suggestions, but they give the general idea of my proposal. A tournament that would bring some novelty, verve, liveliness, excitement, trepidation and friendly/positive competition among users, to an environment (apart from some forums) so often more like a cemetery or a morgue (I hope those are not too "heavy" and provocative words) than a lively, active and participatory community.
Some will laugh, some will pout, some will snort, some will reflect, some (I hope) will be cheered. To the staff the arduous judgment (assuming anyone will respond). Forgive my poor english.
Greetings to all.
