Thank you for your sysCheck, very interesting but ok.

That is your important cIOS:
IOS222[38] (rev 65535, Info: hermes-v5.0): Bug Trucha, ES Identify, Acceso NAND, USB 2.0

So you can use @XFlak ´s ModMii to Update your Wii´s Softmod but:

You only need it if you want to use an USBLoader and a USB Device / HDD for Game Loading.
If you still want to use the External Drive only, you can update your uLoader (Link above) and all is fine.

One Benefit of Updating your Wii´s Softmod is you can play GameCube Games from the same USB Device / HDD with the Wii Games too after the Update.

If you use your sysCheck.csv File with the ModMii Analyzer/Updater,please be sure, you also check and maybe have to
re-install your needed hermes cIOS 222 (for your External Drive).

It is your Choice.:)

Hello.:)
Welcome to the Wii Section.

Hi, I've softmodded my Wii 4.3E following the steps of the first page of this thread.
I am asking me now if that procedure is outdated and so if was better to use others guide/passage.

Yes,there is an updated and very easy to use Guide::)
https://wii.guide/

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Thanks.
But I have already done the steps of the first page, so what should I do?
I will have some problems or some disadvantages with the guide of the first page or the result is exactly the same of the new updated guide?
Hello,

if you are not sure, post a syscheck report by following this guide ==>https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

then we will guide you to update your hack.

Since the Guide from Page 1 is unfortunately a bit old, your sysCheck reveals some Things that should be corrected.:

- Some System IOSes are old/Version.
- Your MIOS Version (old Version)
- You maybe have NO BootMii installed (not as boot2 or IOS)
- You maybe also have an older Version from Priiloader

So maybe it is a good Idea to "Update" the Modding.
A good and simple Solution is to use the PC Tool ModMii.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/

You can use your sysCheck.csv File with the Update Option from ModMii.

After the Installation from ModMii you can DRAG and DROP the sysCheck.csv File on the
ModMii.exe or ModMiiSkin.exe
or
the Shortcuts from both .exe Files.

The sysCheck Analyzer tells you then, which Files are needed to Update
and download it for you (in a Folder on your PC,that has to be copied on your Wii SD Card for the Installation/Update on your Wii) including a detailed Manual how to achieve the Update.

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Hey guys,

First of all, I'm sorry if my English is not that good, I'm from Brazil so I'll probably make some writing mistakes.

I bought my Wii a loooong time ago, when I was visiting usa, probably when they released it.
After many years, my son is playing it, everyday but he only does it with the few game I had.

I was watching a couple videos of how to modify my wii so I could play games downloading them.
There are two ways i've discovered that i could use, one is following the wii.guide steps and the other one was downloading Modmii.
Now here's my question: If i use ModMii, i just need to download the items and after I copy them to the SD CARD, i just insert it on my WII and bingo? IT's done?

Or I still need to anything on the homebrew?

Yes,for 99 Percent yes.
Our Friend @XFlak made with the latest Update a really perfect and easy to use Modding Version from his Modmii.

You can

- Softmod and/or update/downgrade your Wii
- You can update an existing Softmod
- You can download/install Homebrew/USB Loaders and many more Tools

and many more....

So,YES,you do not need more Tools than ModMii.

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Hey, it's me again, haha

So, my last night was in front of my Nintendo Wii and my old Windows notebook, lol.

First what I've tried was on the ModMii steps. Everything was looking fine, but when i've opened the USB Loader GX my games didn't showed up. I've tried all I could to make it appear there, but i couldn't haha. Then I tried using the Wii Guide steps, made on by one, and the same problem, everything was ok but there was no games on the loader =/

What should I DO?

You're talking about wii games right? Make sure they are in wbfs format in wbfs folder on your SD/usb/or hdd, and tick the button on top saying wii games on USBLoaderGX.

First,Congratulations on the successful Wii Modding.:)

Please can you give us a little more Information about the Setup please ?

- Which USB Device for the Games do you use please ?
- How is the Size and how is it formatted please ?
- Which Port is it connected please ?

It should be Port 0 -> kri1pk52t3s41.jpg
- How do you transferred the Games to your USB Device please ?
- Is your USB Device correctly recognized from the USBLoader GX Version (on the Startup you see some Status Messages) ?

Thank you for your Help.:)

Hey there!

I'm using a SanDisk 64Gb usb 2.0 flash drive;

I formatted it no the FAT32 mode;

Connected it no the port 0 as in the picture u posted;

Transferred it using the WBFS Manager 4.0, and all the games downloaded are on this format.

Yeap, the USB was recognized correctly =P

Please ALWAYS use the WiiBackup Manager (ModMii also has it) for the Game Transfers to get sure your Games have the correct Size/ID and were placed in the correct named Folders.

Thank you.:)

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
