Homebrew my 3ds sd card tells me i need to format it on my pc but works fine in my 3ds

You may have corruption.
Backup saves and what you can off of it, then reformat it.

It doesn't ask you to check the card, instead of asking you to format before it can be used?

happened to me, i just winged it and didnt format it. it worked fine. but to be on the safe side i recommend backing it up to an img file or something then formatting it

I actually have a zero byte folder resulting from a jksm crash while backing up saves. No other further problems resulted nor does Windows have any issue with it.

i have 28 gb worth of games on it but the sd card works fine in my 3ds

Yeah, but you should still see if windows can access the sd first

Copy everything off to a computer , then format the card if it consistent with asking you to format, card might be dying.

i would suggest ripping the sd card to a .img using win32diskimager
