Hi folks

I'm returning to a mod-turn-repair project I started a few years ago.
I wanted to install Bluetooth audio onto my New 3DS XL, So I used a cheap 5 dollar Bluetooth transmitter and stripped it down to just the board. It's supposed to plug into a USB port, so 5v input. not ideal.
I did Bluetooth power switching with a push button and a power on/off toggle circuit from an electronics outlet. I tested the 5v Bluetooth transmitter on battery power, and it worked fine.

After installing the whole setup the console didn't power on at all. I uninstalled the modification and still the console would not power on. I used a second console to test individual parts etc. and have determined the fault lay somewhere on the motherboard.

When I try to power on, the power LED stays off. After a few seconds, a faint pop is heard from the speakers followed by a louder pop about a second later.
The console will still charge, and exhibit the same effect while charging.
interestingly, If I take out the SD card, the speakers do not pop.

Does anyone have any ideas before I go component by component testing between the two motherboards? I'm not sure what to try next.

The console and SD card do have CFW installed.

TIA

That Dell data breach is worse than people probably realize....
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I worked for Dell we had access to data about military contracts and addresses for high ranking people.

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol

sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever buy mega man x legacy collection 2
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
