lol I wouldn't say it was shovelware, they've put a lot more into this version than what most do to ports. They've improved the translation and added the odd dungeon here and there.

I do agree that it should have just been a VC or even WiiWare release but then I was never gonna buy it so it doesn't effect me.

Agreed. I used hyperbole to help express my distaste for the way SE seems to take advantage of their fan base. They know they can put this on DS (rather than the VC) and still sell the heck out of it without making a remake, a la FFIII and IV. They also know they can charge $5-10 more than most other publishers for their games, and so they do. Granted, most of their products are of the highest caliber, but it sets a bad standard, in my opinion. All publishers should make great DS games for $30 and not be made to feel they can charge extra just for meeting expectations.
