Hacking Need help identifying/updating my R4 DS

Hi there guys. Before anyone jump into any conclusions, just wanna let you know that I have done quite a lot reading about R4 related info but so far i have failed to update my firmware on my own and I find it difficult to understand the whole kernel,firmware and etc. talk. And right now I have no choice but to ask for help from the forum.

I need to know which firmware is right for my R4 card to be able to play all the latest games and so far from what i've read i think my card is a clone but im not sure which clone exactly. i'll be providing the images of the card itself and also the contents of my microSD card.

I would really appreciate the help and thanks in advance.

to be frankly honest im taking a shot in the dark here and im guessing u have a r4 ultra but i could be wrong. if all else fails use wood r4 or load the latest version of akiao

thanks for replying vash. i've tried installing wood R4 before as a main OS but an error pops up with an image of a text box with a smiley face saying Menu? I've also tried running wood R4 as a .nds file but it only displayed 3 diff icons one is a microSD card icon and the rest i forgot how it looked like but beside those icons are just empty columns with no text. In the end i reverted back to my old files. I haven't tried Akaio yet. An R4 Ultra eh? so I should try the firmware for that?

yea try that just go to r4ultra.com and they have akaio 1.86 formatted for the r4(note: it says its for the r4i but works with the original r4 ultra) if that doesnt help then upload the all of the system and the menu files and ill see if i can identify the FW and be able to help you out. send the upload link in a pm plz

okay i've tried akaio 1.86a it past through loading but it had an error trying to load moonshell and ttmenu when i tried to click the music icon and happy face icon. Am I doing something wrong?

:/...The flashcart is a TTDS clone...which is totally apparent from the images shown...It's not an AK clone...and it's not an R4Ultra. Just stick with using ysmenu, that is about as good as it is going to get...though you could try using that WoodTT if you want to burn more energy fixing whatever problems you find with various patches (game problems), but at least it looks prettier...Or get a homebrew UI that loads via ysmenu (Moonshell2, Menudo, Dsision, Dsision2, DSCovered, etc).

if it is so you can use TTmenu on it.

Yust replace your firmware with this one and see if it works

You could try RetroGameFans latest update and use the files from the R4SDHC folder and see if that works.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I tried Buleste's suggestion and I tried the folder you asked me to but it didnt work so i chose one of the YSMENU folder instead and it worked for me however It's kinda troublesome cuz I have to enter the old TTMENU first then select the ysmenu.nds files then only i can access my games. is there any way of getting rid of the old menu?

Use this firmware here, but if that doesn't work for the newest games you'll have to get YSMenu which you can find in the tutorial section of the R4 forum here, but if you can't find it this link here is for the download of YSMenu, scroll down and look for "DS(T_T)DS" or do CTRL+F and type in "DS(T_T)DS" to find it and down the latest one which should be "2009/03/27 00:00?EZ3in1+ NOR".
