I've been trying to play Eternal Ring on my cfw PS3 and the game has this gamebreaking glitch that insta kills you once you try to go through one of the caves. After researching about it on the internet I discovered that not only it happens in all PS3s, it also happens on PS4(which was patched btw) and on PCSX2 emulator on PC.

I found a post explaining the glitch is caused by some problems with the physics engine rendering the floor inside the cave and in another place I found that someone managed to fix the glitch by changing the PCSX2 emulator settings. According to that guy you need to set "EE clamp to nearer" whatever that is, I believe the EE means "emotion engine". I also looked up on the wiki about the config options for the PS3 emulator and according to the wiki it is possible to use almost all of the clamp options from PCSX2 on the PS3 so I assume it would be possible to create a PS2 config file with that "EE clamp" setting set to nearer. The problem is, I have no idea how to use config files, no idea how to make them and no idea how to use that setting in the file so I'd really appreciate it if any of you could help me with that.

tl;dr I need a PS2 config file for Eternal Ring with "EE clamp" set to nearer.

Thanks in advance.

I know how to get config files already made but I don't know how to make them. I would go to psx-place.com and sign up for the forums and go to the PS2 on PS3 compatibility thread here http://www.psx-place.com/threads/compatibility-list-ps2-on-ps3.1306/page-69 and see if someone can make that config. That's your best chance of getting it done.

Just for reference here's the compatibility list itself http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/PS2_Classics_Emulator_Compatibility_List

If it says there's a config file by the game (Eternal Ring don't, but for other games) the easiest way is install Managunz it's sort of like Multiman as it can play PS3, PS2 and PS1 games but can load PS2 config files for you, but only for games that have one. You just load the game and it'll ask if you want to load the config file and you say yes and it'll do it for you.

But as far as Eternal Ring there's no guarantee a game can be fixed that doesn't work properly. You may just not be able to play that game. There are some games that just cannot be fixed. But ask on that forum.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
