NES game "Super Dodge Ball" gets a SNES port by Rumbleminze

Many NES titles have always been one of the most hacked titles out of all other consoles out there, and in recent years, some of these titles have been seeing ports to other consoles.

Super Dodge Ball is a really fun and often overlooked title for the NES, which sees teams from different countries battling it out in a Dodge Ball tournament. It features really simple controls, but the gameplay is intuitive, fast paced, and the sprite animations and reactions are a delight to experience, more so if doing multiplayer.

Developer Rumbleminze has worked on bringing this great hidden gem from the console into the SNES, by porting the entirety of the code and inner working of it from 6502 assembly into 65816, which the SNES uses.

The port is now available on Romhacks.org, and Rumbleminze has also released the source code for the port over at his GitHub page.

Obviously it's essential to port everything to the SNES so you don't need a NES emulator, saving critical disk space and preventing bloat.
You never know where saving half a megabyte gets you.

But seriously, I can see how porting a game from NES to SNES can be beneficial. Less flickering and/or slowdowns as well as potentially better graphics overall if someone is willing to upgrade them. However, that argument could be applied to a multitude of target platforms.

Is this an attempt to troll Nintendo's case&dessist department?
I mean, okay, it's not their IP. But next step is probably something like doctor mario or something less hidden of a gem. :)

Thanks for the reply.

But for what purpose? To play with original hardware or to have improved graphics/sound etcetera?
This game is notorious for flickering, I have this game on Nintendo Switch Online and even Nintendo's NES emulator didn't do anything to remove the flickering. An SNES port is more than welcome.

When I worked for Dell we had access to data about military contracts and addresses for high ranking people.

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol

sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever buy mega man x legacy collection 2
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
