Purchased on Ebay for $60. Seller said it didn't start. Nothing else. Purchased battery from Nintendo for $20. Purchased new daughter board for $10. Still does not power on. It does, however, charge. When I plug in battery and charger, it displays orange light and battery reports a charge according to multimeter.

I have seen a youtube video where a man reflows the solder of the daughterboard's power ic. I am considering doing this if I cannot figure something else out.

/r/AskElectronics folks told me it was the voltage regulator that was having problems but I don't know where it is to check if it's functioning.

Besides literally replacing the motherboard, I don't know how else to approach this. Does anybody know any cause that would prevent the device from turning on?

Sold the 3DS. Thankfully enough to cover financial loss. The stress wasn't worth it. What a shitty experience.

Best recommendation to any who have the same problem is to sell your device or replace the motherboards.
