Hi everyone, I've been reading some of the stickies ans threads in this forum but I still have some doubts about hacking the ps3.

For starters, I have a PS3 slim running OFW 4.84 according to it serial it can be downgraded to 3.50 tops (its a 2511 B)

So I was wondering... I'm pretty sure I'll lose access to psn but don't really care about that as I rarely play online on PS3 anymore what I do care is if I will still be able to use Netflix, Youtube, Spotify and Crunchyroll as I do use those quite often on the PS3.

i saw something about dual-booting, maybe that'd be an option?

Also, I noticed that most guides mention ofw 4.82 as the highest version but 4.84 is the latest, does that mean I can't hack my PS3?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

PS3HEN is your friend, and seems the go-to method for most up-to-date consoles now:

Seems like it's pretty much push button at this point. If you give it a go, let me know! Thinking about getting a PS3 and throwing this on there myself. Seems really easy to find game backups nowadays (I think it's been like 13 years since the console launched?)

Thanks, seems useful but I still have doubts about if wether or not I'll lose the capability to use any of the streaming apps.

I don't see why you would.

In any case, pretty much any time you try to hack a console, you run the risk of breaking something. You just need to decide whether or not it is worth the risk to you.

From the sound of it (you 100% rely on it working properly to stream things to your TV), it is not.

Follow this video step by step and you should be good to go since your PS3 is compatable with CFW:

If you google PS3 homebrew, the first subreddit that shows up has links to "essential homebrew," if you look under "NoPSN Apps" you should find a PKG to install whatever streaming service you wish to use that bypasses the PSN check part of using the services. Never used any of them but worth a try. Not going to provide any links because the apps are copyrighted material but you should be able to find them easily.

Awesome! This seems to hit the nail on the head. I'll review all this tomorrow. Thanks guys!
