can you still use the original japanese book with this release? i dont know if it requires looking up specific pages for example or how the nazcaan script in the ps3 version was different for each language etc

I didn't unbox my original japanese game, but I was also wondering if the page numbers matched with the english pages.
it might be faster to find spells in an actual paper book, than using a pdf on my phone.

Anyway, I'm past the 40min, and did some fights without problem with the original restored arm7.bin patch (link posted 2 page ago) and Supercard DSTwo flashchart. Thank you @Hephaestus for generating a new patch.
all is good, I really enjoy the story so far, the dialogues are even funny !
This is the first time I play this game in english (I bought PS3 game but wanted to play DS game first) and I'm very happy so far.

I feared I wouldn't understand shizuku's accent because of the old english/welsh, but so far it's fine.
I noticed a missing letter, I don't think it's part of his accent, nor due to length constrain :
"wth" instead of with ?

THANK YOU!!!

This was one my earliest import from Japan. I remember completing the game using a Google translated korean guide. Now I can fully appreciate it. Amazing work!

Firstly a big “thank you” for seeing this gargantuan project through!

Unfortunately for me the patched ROM does not appear to be working with my CycloDS cart. Upon launching the game I get an error: “The save file could not be loaded. Please turn the power off and re-insert the game cartridge” or words to that effect. A save file does appear to have been written to the SD card.

Both the Japanese and Spanish versions ran fine.

Well i'll be damned! Congratulations, lads!!!
Is it ok if i share the news with a gaming news website that i'm associated with?
I want to spread the news as much as possible! :)
P.S: tested on DraStic DS emulator on Android, and it works pretty well!

I've just played it for 2 hours on my NDS and I am absolutely impressed. The music especially sounds exactly like on the PS3... I don't know how Level 5 did it. My jaw dropped already when I first heard the OP music through my in-ear headphones and it stayed that way. In general the production value of that title is absolutely through the roof. Tons of voice acting, beautiful backgrounds and menus, well animated cel shaded 3D character models that look better than most other NDS titles, a beautiful overworld map (!!!) and turn based combat (!!!) that is exponentially better than the real time hybrid system of the PS3 version. The only and really only thing I wish this game had would be a difficulty selection as the PS3 version offered since it can be a bit on the easy side. But that is a very minor nitpick. Also I surprisingly enjoy drawing the runes for spells on the screen (I normally hate touch screen gimmicks).

And the translation you guys did is flawless, very well written and it flows so well. I love it. I might be overly enthusiastic since I loved the PS3 version so much, but this may be my game of the year, if fan translation releases count. Thank you so much.
Thanks for making this post. I checked the last two pages because I was hoping someone would give some sort of review. I wanted to know if it were worth the effort of finding and downloading the rom, an emulator, and all the prerequisite files. This post sold me on it.

I have so many games to play (I discovered Gamecube emulator a month ago, and no, I did not own GC before), and now, this comes along. Yikes. My schedule is full until at least 2021.

Thank you.

NOTICE : DO NOT ASK GAME ROM HERE.
All requests to patched or original ROM will get you a warn.

No game is shared on GBATemp, only the translation patch.
Get the English patch from the link below and apply it to your own original Japanese ROM file.

*first post was here*
My sincere respect.

I own a DS Lite and a R4i RTS Revolution card. The game runs well on my setup, but for this gem I'm really thinking about getting a used NDSi XL from Ebay. Do you guys think the bigger screen would make this game shine in all its glory or is it a waste of money?

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
