Nintendo has given a statement to IGN stating that Switch Online service will keep save files for up to 180 days (6 months) after subscription ends.

"If a Nintendo Switch Online membership expires, users won’t be able to access their Save Data Cloud backups. However, Nintendo will allow users who resubscribe within 180 days to access their previous Save Data Cloud backups," the Nintendo spokesperson said.

Feel like this should be a newsworthy post if the last thread about cloud save expiry was one.

And yet, they couldn't be arsed to tell this to use earlier, why? Laziness as usual.

Well on the NoA page, in the FAQ about it, it said saves may not be deleted right away. However, after I linked that, nobody paid attention to it, at all. Just continued outrage. Although, they did not give a timeline as to how long saves would remain.

Note: Their FAQ has changed since I made the post - it now says 180 days.

Had they actually not been so vague, they could have avoided all this.

Eh, the problem was, NoE specifically said the saves wouldn't be kept. Of course, nobody bothered to even consider that the two were saying different things, or perhaps why NoE would have to do things differently (ie. potentially due to EU laws being much better for the consumer).

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
