New version

v0.0.6:
Improves latency when playing games using broadcast packets (Almost no lag , this will also improve latency for the upcoming kip)
added new `--pmtu` flag
https://github.com/spacemeowx2/switch-lan-play/releases/tag/v0.0.6
Also I might be wrong but it looks like the source for v0.0.6 hasn't been uploaded on GitHub yet? The latest commit (68e6a7c) has been made 22 days ago. Cloning the repo and building it says it's v0.0.5 (same thing happens when getting the source from the releases tab because it's an automated snapshot)

I'm mainly asking because I'm running switch-lan-play on a Linux ARM device so I need to compile it from source =/

It outputs wrong version number.
Try again now should have fixed it,
(redownload source etc)

Thanks, looks fine now!

Also I really don't want to be a nuisance - it's a very minor thing and I'm only reporting it in case you missed it - but it looks like the --pmtu flag isn't shown in the --help command line argument list.

Thanks again for all your work! :D

Either you network settings on your switch are incorrect, or lan play.exe is not running correctly, try re-running lanplay,

is this like xlink kai?
Basically. Lan-play and xLink are both tunnelling services, and while xLink does have an option for the Nintendo Switch, there's rarely any players online.

I don't think this existed a year ago.

I was more so joking in the sense that no one hit me up on it while i posted if anyone had worked on this on several places. I was a big fan of xlink kai/warppipe back in the day and this sort of thing was the first thing that popped into my mind when lan mode was released. I wanna check this out sometime as a curiosity

Thats it ? Nothing more ?

Ubuntu / Debian
This project depends on libpcap and libuv, you can install libpcap0.8-dev and libuv1-dev on Ubuntu or Debian:

sudo apt install libpcap0.8-dev libuv1-dev

Prepare a cmake, gcc, and run like this:
You only have to install the libpcap0.8 and libuv1 if you're using the binary. The -dev packages are needed only if you're compiling it from source as they contain header files and static libraries.

PS: If you accidentally installed the -dev packages for running the prebuilt binary you're still going to be fine, the libraries will still be installed but you'll waste a small amount of disk space due to the unneeded headers 'n stuff.

in my case it wont work:

root@HPX312 ~ > sudo apt install libpcap0.8 libuv1

Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig

Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut.

Statusinformationen werden eingelesen.... Fertig

E: Paket libuv1 kann nicht gefunden werden.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
