As the title said, I am having a 'corrupt' file whenever I am trying to capture specific Pokemon or when they evolve.

Details of the event:

My first corrupt data encounter was when I captured Didog (or whatever that donut dog Pokemon) at the start of the game making my way to the school. I can fight and defeat it but when I capture it, it would not load the "REGISTER" when you catch it. Instead, it would stop at the Pokedex with the captured Pokemon's information.

My second corrupt data encounter was when my Pichu evolved to Pikachu. The same thing happens as the one above.
It also applies to capture a Pikachu as well which would corrupt my game.

I don't know when will I encounter my next corrupt but those two (three?) are the prime examples I am facing corrupt data where I have to reinstall the game back into the Homebrew.

I wiped my SD card and formatted it to FAT32, reinstalling Homebrew and the game without cheats. Load into the save data to do it again with the same outcome. I use the Awoo method by uploading via USB if that matters.

I can choose to ignore them but I would like to collect all the Pokemon, if possible. ( ; - ; ) Pikachu is also my fave and I would be heartbroken to not have it on my team.

I searched for answers but it lead to a discussion about SD cards, Tinfoil errors, and other gaming platforms. Perhaps my wording was vague I may have not found my problem considering Scarlet/Violet came out a week ago as an Emulator. I would really appreciate the help in looking at this! I love Pikachu and I would be sad if I can't have it on my team.

Addition:
Up to this point, I just started using the new cheats posted in the Pokemon Scarlet/Violet forum. The cheats I used today were Capture 100% and never spent an item. For EdiZon, I was able to edit only the LP and cash on my own.

I have nothing to add to this except that I notice sometimes just before my game says "REGISTERED", sometimes the game will hitch, often for more than a few seconds.
I'm guessing whatever is doing this is what's causing yours to crash, I'm on emu so it's recovering from that in some way during this hitch

I'm guessing it's your SD card or your CFW setup.

I wish I could be of more help but honestly; just backup your SD Card's data and start from scratch but with the save data.

If it starts working it was something with your CFW.

If it still doesn't work, try moving your SD backup to a new SD. Ideally a high quality, high speed one.

Hopefully this helps even just a little.

your "end all-save all", would be to figure out what pokemon you have currently, make a little list.
Restart fresh by uninstalling the game, wiping the data from your sd so not even the contents folder has any record of it, resinsalling it, starting a fresh new save and making sure you can catch pokemon safely.

From there start adding cheats to get your pokemon back and youd be good to go

It sounds like you added a bad code at one point and then it corrupted your game data. It would likely only get worse from here, not better.

Either something (homebrew or your CFW) isn't playing well with the game, or your game install is faulty. If you pirated the game you might want to try another .xci file, if you bought the game digitally, reinstall it.

It may have been patched by now, but legitimate hard copies of the game as of Nov 21st had an extremely similar bug to what you describe where a specific pokedex entry is corrupted. It happened to Alpharad on stream, every time he evolved Cubchoo when Beartic's pokedex entry came up the game would generic error crash. CFW may be what's causing save corruption instead of just a crash but the initial trigger for it is (or was) a game bug.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
