Seriously. I need this in my life. Anyone else? We have cross-eyed, but no derp.
A good point, though I can think of proper uses also, like when someone makes a silly mistake. There are also ways to use it like you said correctly, like in the EoF.I can predict so much flaming and trolling with it.
Don't think it's a good idea, otherwise it've been here already.
I honestly don't think a single emote will change the frequency of trolling, but I see where you are coming from and can respect your opinion.I'd love it but looking through the eyes of a troll, it's a bad idea, especially in the normal forums.
LMAO your first post was this? You honor me, sir.you cant decrease or increase the amount of troll with a single emote, nonsense. WE NEED MOAR DERP
Right, and all that happened without a derp emote. I doubt adding it will really add to the cancer. Its going to exist one way or the other. I don't think any piracy fueled memelord children are gonna say "Hey! I heard GBAtemp has a derp emote now! Let's go troll there!" ya know?Don't forget, it's Temp you're talking about.
Take a look at the 3ds section, I think it speaks for itself ;p

Just as a counter-point, we already have some emotes that could be used for this purpose. examples:Don't encourage them.
It's true that other emotes could convey the same idea, but derp is hilarious. This is also a bit specific, but it works much better in any of those same examples when you add related words to it. IE: "oops, I goofed. Herp." I guess the bottom line is that I think its a funny face. Not much else to it.What would a Derp-smiley convey?
"oops I goofed, never mind"
"Well, duh, isn't that obvious"
