The switch, to me, naturally is my entry point to Gen 9. I'm excited first and foremost because its new nintendo stuff, but secondly for what it is. Unlike most nowadays, I still enjoy actually visiting my friends to play games. With this, I can take it to my friends house and play on my own console (not on theirs with their shitty controller their sibling half broke) with all my own data, or stay at home and play online. Or play solo. It's honestly the most versatile way of gaming in my opinion, and it's nintendo. So Im happy.

It's also the reason I havent spent money on anything else

I see the Switch as the Wii U but portable. I think there will be a wide selection of games, some '3DS' style games (Pokemon etc), and vice-versa. Really looking forward to getting more info about the Switch!

I've used it in nearly equal measure in both modes, honestly. It's a fair bit more powerful than mid-range tablets and smartphones, and Android/iOS games don't typically push the envelope graphically or gameplay-wise anyway. It's what Wii U should've been. Loving me some MK8D. :yayswitch:

I use it exactly as Nintendo intended; A home console with the ability to undock, and take it with you.
I also use it exactly as Nintendo intended; A portable console with the ability to dock, and play it in a big screen.

I really see this discussion is coming to the incredible level of productivity and seriousness as "How do you install toilet paper? The paper coming from above or from below?"
Argh....

LOL, true, but still the discussion goes forever.
This shows that in the end the original intended usage (aka what is shown in patents) meant little more than shit, but what the consumers do with the product is what matters.

The Switch first a foremost a handheld to me even though I have it docked in console mode for the majority...

It's a good gap between my PS3 and a PS4 Slim (which I plan on getting this fall/winter) in terms of graphics but it has mobility and Nintendo first party titles which probably makes it my favorite system between the three.

Nintendo is marketing the console as a home console, but it has battery , it probably has a touch screen, the architecture is arm, so it looks like a portable, smells like a portable, it has to be a portable with a fancy hmdi out
Think of it as a home console with extra features (not to mention that it's a LOT smaller then the PS4 (Pro) and XBox One (S).

A better description would be a cheaply made, rushed home console. Definitely needed some more time in R&D.

Still though, absolutely love the machine so far.

Thus far I have only read the patents and seen a parody remix/edit of what I imagine is the original trailer.

Nintendo's next failure, and a means for me to continue to play wind up for those which have thus far failed to see the downward slide.

That said I reckon this failure is going to be less of a complete screw up to provide a platform, though I am not expecting a complete reversal there, and perhaps more of a too little, too late kind of thing.

I may well play with any shiny that results (if something is good I will take it from almost anywhere) but any intellectual or emotional investment has long since been obliterated, notions that they are ones providing something rare and hard to come by having ceased to be further back still.

Still feel like that?
