I don't know what my WPM is. Is there an online test or something I can do to test it? I have recently been doing some transcription work online (transcribing audio and video files like interviews to text). I quite enjoy it. It's a way of making money at home without having to have contact with people, which is nice for me. I've noticed that my typing speed has improved since I've been doing this, and I'm also looking at the keyboard less.

Edit:

Just did a quick test on http://typing-speed-test.aoeu.eu. I got 483 CMP (97 WMP). I'm quite happy with that. I think I'll re-take the test in a few weeks after doing more transcription work and see if I have improved.

it took me 3 minutes to type this . . . lol
. . .
really though i type slow but not that slow . . . its because i cant spell worth shit . . . so no matter how fast i go i still need at least 3 minutes to post something like this . . . even with the horrid punctuation and grammar . . . so i selected the lamest option available
same here, plus i constantly look up to check myself lol

Last time I checked, I was like 90 WPS. The only thing really hindering me isn't typing so much, it's that I am actually dyslexic, so trying to read and properly spell a word at the same time really hinders me.
yep i got that aswell

Every single thing I know about computers is entirely self-taught or learnt from those around me, but it building computers, redimentary coding or typing.

So nobody taught me to type, I've never taken a course on how to type properly and really never thought about how many wpm I can type. However, decades of pure experience means I type quite fast.

45 - on the slow side. And I feel old - when I learned how to type, it was called "keyboarding", and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing was on a VGA/EGA monitor with the worst contrasting colours - bright orange and BSOD blue.

I can get up to 80, if I feel like it.

I should relearn how to type because I feel fast typing (100+ wpm) is pretty much the way to go!

It is at the extreme end of the curve. It's like a poll asking what people made and a chunk of the people replied saying they bring home over $500,000 a year.
If we were talking about a random sample from the population then I would agree, we would expect a much lower average. But we are a biased sample here of people who are very experienced in computers and technology. So you can't really talk about a normal distribution in this situation.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
