So a little confused about this. I just got a brand new Ps4 pro with 4.55 on it. I want to upgrade the HDD to a 4tb. What is the proper procedure to do it while retaining the 4.55 FW that is currently on the console?
get the full firmware and make an update to 4.55 but the 4tb will not fit easily into the ps4 most ppl say that 2tb will fit
This is where I am confused... The full update is BEFORE 4.55... So I pop a new HDD in, restore it with the FULL update that was before 4.55, then update it to 4.55... Why don't others just do that to downgrade their systems? Cant you just pop in a new HDD and do the same thing? Super confused.... Thanks for any info
Thats not how it works.
There is SYS FW and REC FW for 4.55.
You cannot install lower FW on a console than it already has.
You need to put in your new hdd and install the REC FW 4.55 PUP.

I was so confused because the stickied thread here doesnt have the REC 4.55 FW on it. Is there a way to 100% verify the pup I download is indeed 4.55? Not that I don't trust you at all my friend, just want to make sure the link worked.

Calculating MD5 Hash (http://www.exactfile.com/downloads/) is the best you can do. I usually double-check the MD5 after copying firmware file to USB drive just to make sure file is not corrupted during download or writing to USB.
