Hello. I’m on Fw 5.05 and suddenly my PS4 won’t recognise games installed on internal and external HDD. I formatted external drive and initialised PS4 and when I install Pkg’s they are not visible. When I go to Storage -> Application-> There are no applications, but when I install game again on HDD it says -> Game is already installed? Anybody else have that problem? It only shows games installed with disc. When I install games on internal HDD it uses space ( when I go to Application there are no games, it only shows “Other” and used GB), but when I switch installing to external HDD and try to install it on external drive also, it says they (games) are already installed?

Edit: Now I entered Recovery mode and Initialised PS4 again. I really don’t understand what’s going on with this PS4?

After a year or so I turned on this PS4 and before I had 1.8 GB of content on it and at first it showed games on external HDD, but no internal installed games. I initialised PS4 and external content wasn’t visible. Then I formatted external drive and try to install some games on it, but games are not visible? Not on internal or external HDD? In Storage under Application there are no games except the “Other” folder? I assume those are games I installed on PS4? But why under Other? I cant move or delete any games because they are not visible.

Edit2: After another initialisation games do appear in menu and work. Still struggling with external drive Passport 2 TB. Can’t install games on external HDD. ERROR is appearing.

Edit3: For now works you can delete this thread.

Please some help before I give up and update?

Sorry for bringing this thread back from death, but I need help. I installed 800 GB of games on my extended drive and this happened again. When I load payload sometimes console resets and it fucks up game path of whatever and as a consequence PS4 won’t read installed games on external or internal drive. Rebuilding database is not helping and I get message to upload console if I want to read from external drive. If I format external drive ps4 reads the drive, but then I need to install games again from the beginning. I had enough. I’m selling console. Its on EU Ebay for 250 EUR if someone wants to buy it.

I hope someone can help you. I am on 5.05 and I have a lot lot of 5.05 FW and under required for the games to be playable on payload. It works perfectly fine on my PS4 slim 5.05. I am using PS-Phwoar! updated to v1.2 or

[RELEASE] PS-Phwoar! Exploit Host Menu For PS4 Firmware 5.05

Either way.. you must be doing something wrong. It is not your PS4's fault. Its you.

Does your ps4 restarts sometimes as you run payload? That is the problem and it messes up reading games.

Yes this has been a thing for a while

When you use app2usb and this happens corruption is less common

When you use ps4 to format usb and you experience power off on hen load you can get a corrupt USB - Ive lost 8tb a couple times so app2usb is better but takes longer to setup

Also, with app2usb you can run payload then plug your usb after.

Ok. I’m doing this again with app2usb. If not I’m selling it.

Can you help me and clear this thing up. If I use USB flash drive to first install game on internal HDD and then with that same fpkg on USB stick run app2usb it will transfer game on external USB HDD or it will transfer to USB stick?
Edit: I will try only with exfat formated HDD, no USB stick.

Hello. I’m realising this method app2usb is more stable. Now I’m slowly filling my external hard drive with app2usb and I’m thinking about upgrading my internal hdd? Is it possible and it won’t mess up my external drive or whatever? Internal drive is blank as far as I know, because I move installed games from internal drive to external? So there shouldn’t be problem if I upgrade internal hard drive? The reason I’m asking is because in storage menu I’m seeing internal drive building up to 1,8 gb as my external drive is. That’s my main concern, so that’s why I’m asking in advance? Thanks.

If you upgrade your internal HDD you will loose everything and you will have to start again.
If you didnt use apptousb and instead used the official 'extended storage' method to have your games on an external drive you would have been fine.
If you used the official extended storage you could even use the games on the drive on any other 5.05 console without having to re install anything. Another downside to using apptousb is that rest mode will not work with any apptousb game.

Thanks. To bad. Then I’m not gonna upgrade ps4 internal hdd and I’m gonna just save pkg’s to another hdd and additionally erase (when I finish game) and install games on ps4. Thanks
