Hacking Question on updating the unmodded Wii from 4.0

I have a unmodded Wii being shipped to me right now and the seller says its System Menu is 4.0
I want to update it to a newer firmware, maybe 4.2 since I heard Bannerbomb was better, but no idea how to go about it. (Basically asking how to update to a firmware under the latest)

I have never ever touched a Wii. I have only watched a video on how to install Homebrew Channel using LetterBomb.

Following this guide currently

In 4.1-4.3 they only tried to block homebrew and stuff, so it's better with 4.0. Bannerbomb is just homebrew installer loader. You have to put both Bannerbomb on your SD card and Hackmii Installer. http://bootmii.org/download/

So put both private and hackmii_installer v1.2 folders on root?

I can see I'll be using Bannerbomb v1

Edit: nvm read the Bannerbomb guide more closely. boot.elf on root

Edit 2: I've decided to just follow Modmii since it's so convenient

    I got my Dad a firestick for Xmas and showed him those 3rd party sites on Kodi, he loves it, all he watches anymore. He said he has got 3 letters from AT&T already about pirating, but he says f them, let them shut my internet off (He wants out of his AT&T contract anyways)
