Hacking R4i Gold, should I buy one?

It's the only cart available to me locally, I could order a different cart of the net but should I really be avoiding it like the plague?

I'm a bit of a noob, I have a DSTT for the Lite and there are a few games that don't work on that but I've no idea about the DSi

Would I be able to play every game on a DSi with a R4i Gold?

Acekard2i > everything.

Acekard2i = cheap and actually works.
R4i Gold, etc. = clones. If the R4 is crap (which it is), the clones are crap.

Basically what the lads are trying to say is that:

Stay away from anything that has R4 on it

Its no longer supported by the team, and the R4i Gold - Advance -Ultra and all its variations are mere clones...they're pretty crap as well.

But he is right, it's a clone cart. Clone carts suck. Go buy an Acekard if you're a little money tight or a Cyclo if you've got lots of cash to spare. There's a few other ones but those are just my two recommendations, and both are great carts.

the team have been doing a great job on supporting their flash cart

R4i Gold doesn't support DSi features, if you run a DS game that has extra DSi Features, it will just say "Nintendo DSi is needed for this feature", not that it matters, I got R4i Gold last week and I'm happy with it, it can run AKAIO 1.5.1 (Patched) and with this you can play all the latest games, Idc about this Flashcarts features when I already have Acekard on DSL. (P.S. - My country has only R4i, no other "i" flashcarts)

I was a R4i Gold user at the time I bought my DSi and was the only flash cart I can afford back then. Now, I have both an Acekard 2i and a M3i Zero.

My advice: if you can't buy an Acekard or a M3 right now, go ahead with the Gold R4i, or buy what you can. But start saving for the future. If you're in serious gaming, you are going to need one of those.

R4i Gold last firmware updates were on September 9th, 2009 and almost right now, January 21st, 2010.

But it is best to use

Get an Acekard2i or Supercard DSONEi. Also consider the M3i Zero, they've been really active lately.

Thanks for letting me know, lolz, I wasn't aware of this, so openly said out that R4i doesn't support DSi features, hoping to get a reply like that one.
