I have an anime collection I want to stream to multiple devices and yes, I know there are solutions specifically designed for this, but what about creating a Youtube channel, upload my collection there and set everything to private? Does Youtube allow this?

Are there any other (preferably free) alternatives for hosting private videos online you can recommend?

They seem to have a system in place that detects videos that may violate copyright and automatically rejects them. I just tried to upload an anime episode and it was rejected. Guess Youtube is out of question now
Use MEGA

VLC is a video player, not video hosting service. And Plex is for self-hosted stuff I believe.
I know VLC is a player but you can stream from it if I remember correctly. And yeh I know Plex is self hosted.

Just giving the best options I know about

Mediafire? I don't know how big your collection is, but I know it allows video streaming since 2013.
I was actually going to suggest mediafire, but it seems they disabled streaming recently, I'm only seeing the download option now.

Make your own web server and port forward. Or just make a free x10hosting domain, allow directory listing, and upload them there.

So there is a video player on iOS that lets you stream videos from file host services like Dropbox etc. and it supports chromecast. I guess I will be using that as streaming source since I have my phone with me all the time. Now I have to decide which hosting service to use. Dropbox, Amazon Cloud or Google Drive? Tough decision..

Google drive has the most free storage, so if your collection is more than 2GB that would be the best bet.

Well I just compared the prices and yes, Google Drive is the cheapest and has 15GB of free storage. Just uploaded a video to test how it works out and it worked. Google Drive it will be then :grog:

Edit: Btw, is there an Android TV app that fetches videos from Google Drive or an Android TV video player with Google Drive support?

Host it on your own server and set up No-IP's free dynamic DNS so you can point a domain to it if you don't have a static IPv4 or IPv6 address.
Trying to host it on the Internet will either involve using shit services or getting copyright violations so just use your home computer as a server.

Drive might remove it after a while if it finds out the file is copyrighted.

sorry that youtube didn't work out for you..
youtube for private streaming would be awesome.. almost everything has access to youtube... even my proprietary set up box lets me play youtube videos (and doesn't even have a browser or other service)

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
