Hardware Regions...?

I forgot (or never actually cared), what country/continent belongs to what region regarding Nintendo games.
I want to know if I can run Australian Wii games on a European Wii. I think Australia and Japan make one region, and Europe another, but I don't know (I hope not). Are game DVD regions the same as the video DVD regions?

Help.

Sony went all gungho and changed blu-ray regions. ex: US + Japan are on the same region 1

Only for movies, for games there aren't any regions. But the consoles are still region protected for PS1 and 2 games.

Blu-Ray MOVIES have only 3 regions.

thats why some australian dvd have spanish subtitles/dialogue as well.

OK, it is just NTSC and PAL regions, and Reggie said it is not a lock but rather the incompatible video format.

Japan was a seperate region on old Nintendo Consoles.

Do you have any proof that Japan and North America share the same region on the Wii?

EDIT: It doesnt' matter anymore, Play-Asia have confirmed (due to testing) that Japanese Wii games won't work on a US Wii or vise-versa.
Also that you can't use Japanese Wii points on a US system.

Heh... French Guiana is the same region than Europe. Maybe it make sense.
Note that French Guiana is a small country just "above" Brazil (that have the same region than Australia).
