What's wrong with linear audio interpolation? It's what I've been using on my emulators lately.
Because it's not how the hardware is intended to sound like, if accuracy is the aim of the emulators, Gaussian is what the PSX used, N64 I'm not sure what RSP uses, it's weird. Even CEN64 uses proper interpolation for audio, as does Mednafen PSX (which also focuses on accuracy); emulators should sound like the proper hardware, not raspy and ear-bleeding.
