Announced today on their twitter page, Adult Swim Games will release Pocket Mortys for Android and iOS on January 14th. It is based on their ever-popular and critically acclaimed adult animated television series Rick and Morty. It's slated free but no word about in-app purchases. And taking Adult Swim's senior producer Chris Johnston words: "This is all game. Real game. The real McCoy. The Real Ghostbusters."

From the looks (and name) of it, the game will, somehow, be played à la Pokémon. You can see it briefly in action in the tweet or gif below:

If you're familiar with the series, you know what to expect with its subtle (and not-so subtle) inferences, philosophical undertones and crude jokes.

I love both Rick and Morty and the Pokemon games so this looks like fun. Certainly a big step up from all the Pokemon clones/monster catching games currently on Android which are dumbed down to the point where they're not even any fun, and littered with microtransactions.

Far from being a kid's show, this one, like other Adult Swim series is targeted for a mature audience. The subtle jokes and inferences make it enjoyable and entertaining. You should give it a try! Starts off like a weird show though but grows on you!

I hope so. I'd rather have a game that's $10 for all its content than a free one that gives you a couple in-game coins for that much.

Just watched episode 1 and it seems funny plus the game looked already interesting before, now i only hope they will not restrict this game to a specific country and do not lock rooted phones like some other games do
(instead of using my big 1+1 I am using my girlfriends old s3mini to play world trigger and this phone is so damn small and slow)
