[Rumour] Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Coming to Switch?

ALBW.png

Originally released in 2013, A Link Between Worlds turned heads, and to many proved itself as the successor to A Link to the Past. Maintaining an impressive score of 91 on Metacritic, it stood as a definitive title for the 3DS library—but that was 2013. Two years later, the game saw a second release in the form of its Nintendo Selects edition at a reduced price, but has since been put to rest. As if to dig it up from its peaceful slumber, Nintendo PR has recently been seen requesting to refeature review content for advertising material.

With a Nintendo Direct more than likely right around the corner, what could this mean for the game? The easiest conclusion to jump to would be a Switch remaster; the game being more than suitable with its lack of reliance on specific 3DS features. Other possibilities could include 3DS Virtual Console on the Switch, or even a sequel.

What do you think? Would you buy a HD remaster?

in graphics lol in core gaming they are the same exact thing i loved them both but it was basicaly updated gta same with gta5 they gave you 3 characters but the gameplay and everything is no diferent from 3.. you dont have anything majorly diferent gameplay wise at all.
This is why I'm not gonna reply to you past this. 4 has entirely different physics, mechanics, minigames, and so on. You're going on ridiculous tangents about shit no one ever said and it's making you look silly.

Stop it. Get some help.

I don't understand why people don't like the idea of Nintendo porting games. I personally got the chance to play The Last of Us because it got remastered on the PS4 and I am hyped to play Bayonetta 1 and 2 on the switch when it comes out as I didn't have a wiiu or it on the xbox. Yes, porting games is an easy way to get money from consumers but it doesn't really hurt the consumer unless you're buying the game again.

well lets end it this way i guess some people can only see their side of things, i dont deny nintendo for their remakes but i guess no other company does their remakes and rehashes either its only nintendo.

i always followed sony and nintendo and i will keep following both if money permits, im happy with my games and consoles, and tbh i played more on my switch than i did on my ps4 so far but i still got a good list of games to buy for ps4 to.

I'm not sure why everyone is so harsh about re-releases. It's not like a company like Nintendo will push the whole development department into one single port. These projects require much less work and they can be seen as a relatively small investment compared to the costs.

Also, just to remind you, not everyone starts with the same console. My first console was the NES, my cousin's was the NDS. He still got to play Super Mario 64 because the Nintendo DS had a very nice port. No one is forcing you into buying Ocarina of Time for the 100th time, but for someone else might be a new experience. Not everyone is willing to play the "true experience" of the original games with outdated graphics that only look good on CRTs.

Ugh but link between worlds sucks
You aren't the first person I read saying this. What did some people not like about this game? It has a high score. I'm genuinely curious.

High score doesn't mean good. Fallout 3 got shittons of GOTY awards and 10/10s and it's a buggy mess with an inconsistent story and dickawful characters. Super Mario Land has a 7/10 despite being one of the worst (if not THE worst) mario games to exist. Likewise, good games with limited appeal, such as God Hand, will get notoriously low review scores. Don't trust scores for anything, trust the individual mechanics and design of a game. I for one don't have much interest in Link Between Worlds because to me, I vastly prefer the sprites, so the aesthetics don't appeal to me, and it just looks like LTTP with less to do. I'll have to pirate it and see if I like it first.

I don't like the graphical style of ALBTW either. But movement does look nice in 60fps.
It does have high quality music and remixes. And I like how expressive the main villain is.

See I personally just can't stand it. The physics are just too fucking weird. Pull it up real quick and you'll see what I mean; jump and you fall at a normal speed (albeit somewhat floaty.) Walk off the edge of a platform and you just sink down at like twice that speed with very little control. It's not all that fun personally. I think it's pretty much one of the only objectively bad mario games. I don't think that means no one can enjoy it, mind you, just that it's physics and design are just bad.

It's definitely not your typical Mario game, but my belief is that there are worse. O.o

Like what? Besides Hotel Mario and those weird edutainment games (i don't personally count those -- did nintendo even develop them?) are there any actually bad games? I'm honestly interested in them, I like seeing what goes wrong or why something isn't fun.

I haven't seen a "bad" Mario game on a Nintendo platform yet. Can we please get back on topic though?

Thus we go back to Super Mario Land 2. Paper Mario Sticker Star... Of course, what you're implying is all subjective.

Well no, bad physics aren't really subjective. When Mario falls to his death at twice the speed he falls at from jumping, and you can't reach a lower platform because you fall at terminal velocity, that's objectively bad design. Maybe it's a bug, maybe it's intentional, but either way it's awful. I'll check out SML2 though.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
