So I want to hack my NEW 3ds but I’m scared that Nintendo will update it to the point where I can’t play online anymore and stuff. Am I safe to do it on my new 3ds?

on 3ds people get banned for one of 3 reasons cheating online, playing games before there release date and if nintendo notices your homebrew use the only way this can happen is from connecting to nintendo servers while homebrew is loaded (and /or directly after loading homebrew) . . . so dont cheat dont play games before you can buy them and use homebrew offline and run any non-homebrew app before turning wifi back on and you will be fine

CIAs. Stick to .3dsx homebrew if you're paranoid about bans.

Although I've never heard of anybody banned for homebrew CIAs specifically, they produce unknown title id's that Nintendo could theoretically detect and ban you should they get strict.

You can always remove B9S/Luma later on if anything you are worried about happens.

The only known mass ban related to cfw was due to idiots trying to play a pokemon game online before the game was officially released. Sadly there is no patch for stupidity.

If you are uber paranoid you are better off just not installing cfw, there is always a risk with cfw.

Freeshop, tikshop, and the like. If it was designed to allow you to download/install free games, it's been patched and is likely to get you banned if you try to use it.

False, the ban wave I was a part of (the second big one) had nothing to do with Pokémon and we never nailed down the exact culprit, though people think it was because of Nintendo grabbing data via Spotpass. The bans from that ban wave can be reversed using a different LFCS_B, though, which I don't think the Pokémon bans were able to... I may be wrong about that.

Darnit, I forgot about that one.

Like I said above OP, there is always a risk. If you are not willing to take the risk, stay legit.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
