Top screen repair on a cfw monster hunter with Luma 3ds.

Won't be sending it in with an SD card just had a crack in the LCD. called Nintendo, CS Rep was super polite and discounted the repair cost to a fraction of what it is making it very affordable.

I wanted to know if people have done this in the past and how their experience was...of.its possible for them to still put in an IPS replacement screen (the current one with the crack is an IPS LCD)

And I still have CFW in mime, done a system nand backup will backup game saves as well and CIAs...but can I just leave luma 3ds on the system? Remember its an LCD replacement I'll be paying for it...nothing to do with warranty

Nintendo has sent back hacked 3DS systems without doing repairs and on top of that, banning them even if the custom firmware is uninstalled.
There's also the chance you get a lazy technician who will outright swap yours for an already fixed, off the shelve same color/edition model.

Nintendo has no obligation to repair your n3DSXL with an upper IPS LCD. You're better off buying the part yourself and outsource the screen repair to a 3rd party specialist.

thanks for responding once again turdpoo, your the man

shit I didn't know it was that crazy.... mine is a monster hunter 4 U edition, they told me they only have red and black to replace... so its likely that they won't have IPS panels in 2019...

yikes.... what inconstancy... i'm better off buying the part and getting it done third party, I'm from Canada- not from the states though :(

I talk to all my local cell phone dealers... some have said they have done it... most do not want to touch it, they know how tough of a repair it is

bought the pass and sent it in to wiigotem- super excellent speicalist, went above and beyond, provided an IPS panel, replaced the circle pad (it didn't need it, but the new one is better), and put on a new grey frame for the model, removing the old hand grease that devlops over time while still keeping the motherboard and other things.

No ban, 65$ CAD later, I was alittle unimpressed with the IPS he used at first but he pulled from another working model so its legit and it works just fine. Good referall

thanks once again turdpoo

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
