I have not alot of money to spend.I have a semi-broken xbox, meaning that sometimes I wll get the red ring of death and sometimes i wont.I was consired building a pc to improve on my skills of computers.I have a old Core 2 Duo motherboard lying around.I would like to do something with it instead of recycling it.I see theres no point in wasting money on modchips on a outdated broken console. But i cant really throw away that, because i could probably put in a Fan mod or something and try the X-Clamp trick.Any ideas what I should consider Doing? Thanks

You need a lot more than a motherboard to make a working PC and the motherboard itself probably isn't worth much so unless you have a compatible CPU and RAM laying around there's probably not much point in doing anything with it.
You should try to fix that 360, but do it properly using something like https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Game-Console/Xbox-360-Red-Ring-of-Death-Fix-Kit/IF205-024
There's no guarantee the fix will be permanent but it should last a while.
You don't need a modchip, just flash the DVD drive and burn the games you want to play. If it's an older model flashing the DVD drive should be very easy, the hardest part is opening the console.

Me personally, I'd go for building a budget gaming rig, if those are the only two options. You won't really be able to play much of anything modern, but considering the HUGE library of games you can play on PC (including emulators), I think it's a safe road to travel.

It's not the movies or games downloads that I would worry about, like breaking into networks, downloading encrypted things, spying on network traffic. I have seen so many "Top Secret" seals on files when I was a kid

I was obsessed with finding UFOs, a surprising amount of US files where stashed on computers in other countries, China back in the early 90s omg sooo much
