So. I've been out of the scene for 2 or 3 months. A guy asked if I could add CFW to his 3DS and I said 'yeah, of course!'

So I went on the 3DS.guide site to follow as per, and I'm greeted with the firmware versions and 'Boot9Strap' methods!

So, I've skim read through this, but I'm assuming that the Boot9Strap is a new alternative to the old A9LH method? No longer needing the A9LH payload? Something that is actually part of the Arm9 processor boot process?

Might be talking crap here, but if someone could give me some info or a link to it that'd be great.

Sighax we can do anything with E.G install anything unsigned, including but I'm guessing that Luma is the preferred method still with full fat custom firmwares installed on the actual device as Sighax is pretty new, as far as I can see it's only for people that want full control. (who wouldn't, but for the sake of doing this for a friend, he won't need all that jazz hahaha)

If you read the first page of the guide it explains what homebrew and CFW is.
Appreciate that. I love the Homebrew and Hacking scene with Nintendo consoles. I like to know what exactly things are so that I can help people in future with their questions too, so thanks :)

I removed sighax.com as there's no reason to include it anymore. It's no longer accessible by the public and really wasn't that well received by the general public.
Adding section for 1.2 as it should have been added before
Sorry for the delays, I've been dealing with personal issues.

Wish there would be more people like you on the net. but yeah, not the right topic to discuss, but the offtopic thing has turned into a running gag so yeah, just a big thanks again, and I'll also try to keep up with this thread, since things calmed down a little 4 me. :)

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.

[squeezes @SylverReZ onto a physical media, then archives you in my old stuff box] :tpi::rofl2::tpi:
