Sony spending a lot of money they definitely shouldn’t be spending
How is Sony doing financially? I know cutting edge game consoles always sell at a loss, but Sony has the movies and media (TV's, Blu-Ray, etc) industries to fall back on. The PS5 has sold commendably compared to the XBX.

I remember back at the end of the PS2 era, an article claimed that Sony's presence was diminishing in Japan. However, I haven't really seen evidence that they've slowed. Someone with more industry knowledge will have to give me the rundown.

If anything, Microsoft is the one I'm concerned about. They've been eating up studios all over the place at great expense, but I'm not sure how they're going to approach the Xbox brand after this current gen.

8% of Microsoft's revenue is from gaming. The vast majority of people (read as: non-gamers) do not view MSFT as a games company simply because they aren't. It's just a small division of a company that has always been far better known for programming languages, OSes and applications (and now AI and cloud services). Don't worry about MSFT. They'll still be around long after Nintendo and Sony merge.
