Many MP4 files won't work by default (without needing further transcoding) because the Vita video player app can't go above H264, Level 4.
So far, I've found three sources which work without needing extra work on the MP4 file:
1. archive.org MP4 files.
2. Ripping YouTube using JDownloader 2.
3. Ripping BBC iPlayer using jDownloader 2.
There's loads of content on archive.org which isn't elsewhere. They seem to autogenerate MP4 files when someone uploads an MKV, also they seem to add in extra MP4 files with an ia.mp4 extension. These work by default.
