StreetPass 2: Rise from the Ashes

This is a work in progress

If you were disheartened to hear of the demise of HomePass, then know that there is an alternative now. It is not elegant by any means, but you can share your StreetPass file; that is, every StreetPass you've accumulated but haven't used are stored in a single file. Copy that file and you can keep using the same SPs over and over or use someone else's collection. Instructions, links, and other info are HERE.

To summarize what's in that Google Sheet, your CECD is the file that contains your unused SPs. It is located at `ctrnand/data/ID0/sysdata/00010026/00000000`. I posted some information in my other guide (ctrl-F for "streetpass") and on GBATemp.

The instructions for using a downloaded CECD are pretty simple:

1. Open GodMode9.
1. Copy the desired CECD over your existing one (rename to 00000000 if it isn't already).
1. Immediately select the file and opt to "Calculate CMAC". Fix the file if it asks.
1. Boot up and use the SPs as you desire.

Feel free to add your own info (in keeping with the existing format). Region shouldn't matter, but there's a column in the sheet for including the source console's region anyway. If you're looking for a particular game's SP, just sort by that game and select the CECD files that contain at least one SP.

The more people we get to contribute their files, then the more useful this post will be to everyone. All you have to do to help is upload your CECD and type into the sheet what unused StreetPasses you have and how many transmissions you got. Thanks!

This was also posted over in 3dshacks. If you comment, I check that more regularly.

This is really cool, I'm guessing (sorry I didn't actually read everything yet) that this is just for actual 3ds devices and that the process would be different for an emulator?

Either way thanks a lot for this information. Broke my head today learning that this wasn't a feature of the game. Idk when this game was released but it actually broke my head I had never played it and just assumed derp derp you can share levels.

Intrested in doing this, just need to figue out how
[Sorry for the late response, I don't check GBATemp very often]
Basically, the way the Yo-kai Watch games handle Pandanoko is a bit tricky: The only way to guarantee that you get one is by StreetPassing with someone who has it in their VIP room. It won't work if someone befriends Pandanoko and StreetPasses with you, they have to have him still in the room. In order to get the StreetPass data backed up and shareable, you need two copies of the game, and two systems (at least one of them has to be hacked, of course, and if one of them isn't hacked, you need to put the copy of the game with the occupied VIP room into the unhacked system). Once both systems successfully StreetPass (make sure you've registered the Wayfarer Manor in both copies, it makes you re-register if you put the game in a different system), DON'T open the game (opening the software will register the StreetPass as "obtained," getting rid of the data we're trying to copy). After that, you just need to follow the OP's instructions to copy the data. If anyone has an occupied VIP room but not an extra copy of the game, I could do the StreetPass copy myself if they send a backup of their save file.

As far as I know, all of the other 3DS games handle Pandanoko the same way, including Blasters (not sure about Blasters 2 and Sangokushi).

I'm currently trying to get the elusive Pandanoko Streetpass notification in hopes we can have a more accessible way to spread it. I'm dedicated to the point where I'm using my only cartridge of YKW1 with 3 saves on 6 different 3DS units. I even installed a homebrew app on one of them to take the 8 hr Streetpass cooldown out of the equation so I can just grind out the tags.

However, I'm current at 2200+ tags and I have yet to have got her even once. I'm still doing it, and I'm still determined as ever to get her, but I can't help but think maybe something is going wrong. I'm saving in front of the VIP door whenever i redeem the regular tags. I even swap the cartridge into the other 3DS units whenever they got all their tags ringed up. If anyone could give me some tips, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm taking a look at an old method i found in an old Reddit thread called the "3 Bloominoko/Noko Self-Streetpass" strat. I have my doubts it will have much of an affect, but I read that it has worked for some people. So I'm willing to give this a try. I will reply in this thread again if I ever manage to come across it. Wish me lots of luck, folks!

Hey, so I recently decided to take part in this because of the eshop shutting down. I've been wanting to fill up my Mii plaza but each time I install a file, the streetpass for the plaza turns itself off. Am I doing something by mistake?

I cant seem to get the streetpass 2 method to work with Yokai Watch 1 at all. Either the game tells me "This is not the software registered to streetpass" despite the green streetpass indicator indicating that I have streetpasses for the game, or It doesn't even register that I have the streetpass enabled for that title and makes a duplicate entry (this happened with a PAL streetpass file). Its like there's some sort of weird copy protection and region locking on this game's streetpass system.

Reading a post regarding Yokai Blasters earlier in the thread, it seems Yokai Watch games tie streetpass data directly to the save file in such a way that unless you also have the save data that the Streetpass data was made with the Streetpass data will be useless (hence the "This is not the software registered to streetpass" message.) The save data is easily shared with apps like Checkpoint, but this is a real bummer.

I've had this same problem. I would have the Streetpass on but when I install a file, both Yokai Watch and Mii Plaza act like there's no data and I have to reactivate it.

I know this is like quite a few years old now, but I'm just wondering- I know very little about this, I've survived on step-by-step tutorials and just using FBI and shit to install CIAs and stuff- so I have to ask- there's no danger in injecting these CECD files of strangers, is there?

and for the record, this isn't so much about my mistrust of you guys, but moreso about me doing it wrong and bricking my console.

As someone who went through the grade school system in the US some time within the past 30 or so years, not nearly enough is done to promote and educate on how to eat healthy in a way that is feasible to do on a regular basis and also affordable. Eating healthy is, comparatively, fucking expensive. So is eating unhealthy, but in many cases eating unhealthy is more affordable than eating healthy

@Sicklyboy I agree, but also it's about self control and realistic thinking. We wouldn't feed a dog soda, so why feed it to ourselves? Eating unhealthy food because it's cheap is one thing, but I'm sure you know people who drink soda routinely when they should be drinking water which is free.
I get it can feel mean to say "no treat sweet beverage for you anymore" but for many people it's just in their way of life.
