With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launching in a month's time, the hype is reaching its peak. In the last Nintendo Direct, Game Director Masahiro Sakurai announced that five DLC characters will be released, each costing $5.99. Today, it was announced on his Twitter account that the five upcoming characters have already been picked by Nintendo, with Sakurai himself having the final say. This was followed up by another post asking fans to stay on-topic when replying to his tweets, possibly in a bid to avoid the ongoing cry of Waluigi fans.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s DLC line-up is now complete. This time the selection was made entirely by Nintendo. I decide if we can create a fighter based on their selection, then come up with the plan.

"Hey, let's take the characters the REALLY want, and lock them behind a day-1 DLC paywall. They're so dumb that they'd pay for it too!"

In general I agree with that, yet in this case it seems less annoying then with other games since here they really have made a full release package. As for the principle I agree, but it dosn't feels like they cut something out of the game here to just to add it later on. I have the feeling the team would love to just add and add more and more content and so on and just run out-off development time (while probably even beeing annoyed that they "only" have five more slots to fill)

Well of course Nintendo chose them, like they have ever given any fucks about what the fans want.
They only care to do their thing, zero fucking interest in the fans feedback or interests at all.
And that goes far beyond just Smash.

Anyway, I have a weird dual wish:
1) That Waluigi doesn't become a DLC character becuase "eugh, memes".

2) That Waluigi is a DLC character so everyone can shut the EFF up about it.

Waluigi cannot be a DLC because he is an assist trophy.

Prediction: Sora is revealed with the Kingdom Hearts collection coming to switch, makes sense with SE wanting basically all of their recent games on the console, and it would help promote KH3 around/after January

Has to do with the Japanese word "warui" 悪い which means "evil" and then combined with Luigi, I'm pretty sure. So, evil Luigi.

Mario has Wario, Luigi has Waluigi.

I'd prefer Zero or even Bass TBH. Solaire and/or Siegmeyer from Dark Souls would be great additions, and I still want to see Sans from Undertale included.
