I'm trying to figure out how to hook surround sound up to my Xbox. I have a black web 5.1 surround sound system. I'm trying to figure out the best way to hook it up, as there are multiple ways to do so. If I do it only through HDMI then HDR10 isn't supported.
Using the optical audio cable from my Xbox to the receiver, there is a delay from the sound system compared to what is coming out of the TV creating an echo. Running the optical cable from the TV to the receiver creates a similar problem. I have each speaker connected to a large pioneer speaker, which I already had, for a fuller sound. The sound is a bit too low so I decided to get a black web sound bar as well for some higher range.
I currently have the Xbox hooked into the sound bar and the TV hooked into the receiver but it too has a slight lag, so each sound is being repeated 3 times. After fiddling with some settings on the receiver I almost managed to get it synced up with the sound bar perfectly, but there is still some lag from what is being shown on screen.
Right now the best thing I can think of is to get an optical audio splitter and run it from the xbox to both the sound bar and the receiver. Anybody have a better idea of what I should do?
