Swery65's "The Good Life" Kickstarter relaunches today
Last year, Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro, the director behind Deadly Premonition and D4, launched a Fig campaign in order to fund a new game idea he had. Asking for 1.5 million dollars, the Fig campaign failed and received less than 50% of what was needed. Now, as of today, Swery has made another attempt to revive this project, this time using Kickstarter, and asking for a little less than $650,000. A video was also uploaded, showing new graphical changes that the team made in the interim between 2017 and 2018.
Named "The Good Life", the game is, as called by the development team "a cross between Animal Crossing and a detective mystery". You play as a journalist named Naomi, who moves to a small town in order to pay off her debt. From there, you encounter the inhabitants of the village during the daytime, who you can interact with, while uncovering and solving a mystery and making money to pay off your debts. Then, at night, everyone in the town turns into cats or dogs, and you can explore further in your new form.
The Good Life's Kickstarter will last until May 4, and at the current time of writing, has 500 backers pledging over $22,000. If the game is successfully funded, it'll launch in late 2019 for PC and PlayStation 4, digitally retailing for $29 and $39 respectively.
What happens in the town depends entirely on you!
How the townspeople behave, how their lives play out, and how the story ends... It'll all change based on your decisions.
(How you interact with the townspeople and make friends with them will change how they think and behave.)
The townspeople's relationships will change based on how you play. In one town, you may see a surprising couple start dating... Or a normal character in your town may become the mayor of your friend's town...
You may even be able to influence how the story in your town plays out!
The story will eventually lead its main character (you) to a shocking truth...
