Hello, yesterday i bought a v1 switch that was already hacked, i powered off the switch and then removed the memory card, afterwards it wouldn't turn on no matter what ( battery isn't dead as it was around 50% charged)
Although when i connect it into my computer it makes the "device connected sound", doesn't it make that sound only when the switch is on? Guessing it's a black screen from seeing replies on other posts.
Can someone help me through the process? I'm not really familiar with hacking a switch

I guess your Switch has turned on AutoRCM.
Why do you remove memory card? Because files that Hekate/Atmosphere are in the SD card. Without SD card, they probably will not boot

I re-inserted the sd card seconds after removing it, but won't show anything on the screen.
Could it be that it has booted up but the screen is just black?

I'd like to also include that when it's on power it doesn't show the little charging indicator on the top left

I think you should have a look at this first to understand Switch hack terminologies https://rentry.co/SwitchHackingIsEasy

Then, I think you should re-hack your switch with above guide. Please DO NOT follow any Video Guide from Youtube because most of them are outdated and may harm your machine.

Edit1: Did seller give you the dongle like this?

no dongle, just the switch
Is it an issue if he didn't send it?

Please keep in mind that the console can no longer boot on its own, so you'll need a PC, phone, or other payload injector (as my case: a dongle) to start the console after a coldboot (which it seems like your situation).

Note: If the console screen stays black when pressing the power button after activating AutoRCM, It's in RCM, which I suppose your Switch current state.

Follow this https://rentry.org/SwitchPayloadLaunch#erista-unpatched to inject payload with your computer (usb a - usb c cable is required)

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
