Alright guys, I'm not incredibly in-depth when it comes to the tablet scene but my dad's been fancying a tablet. So we went down to our local electronics stores and tried a majority out. Below is an opinion I had and then he generally agrees with:

iPad 2: Great tablet, very popular, nice app line up. IPS Display. Not considering due to high price and lack of hardware features such as connectivity ports.

Motorola Xoom: Amazing, thin, sexy tablet. Runs on the standard HC hardware that's around (Tegra 2.1, Dual-Core 1GHz, 1GB RAM) Wonderful video processing, responsive touch screen. LED flash on back. Nice cameras. Ports: HDMI, MicroUSB, MicroSD, 3.5mm HP jack, Dock Connector. LCD Display

Toshiba Thrive: Nice tablet, rugged build. Not as sexy as the other ones but the hardware inside is the same. IPS Display. Ports: HDMI, USB, MicroUSB, SD. Removable back cover for different colors & replacement of battery.

ASUS Transformer: Nice tablet, very sexy. Okay cameras, same HW as everyone else. Deal breaker: Weak speakers. IPS Display. Ports: MicroSD, HDMI, 3.5mm HP jack.

Acer Iconia: Okay tablet, rugged build quality. Video processing can be choppy. IPS Display Ports: HDMI, USB, MicroUSB, 3.5mm HP jack, MicroSD, Dock Connector

I'm thinking the Xoom. I had initially gone with the Thrive due to its nice ports but I realized they were a bit over the top, and if you're paying $400 for this tablet, it better look sexy. I really liked its full SD card but that can be achieved on the Xoom with a Micro USB to USB Adapter & a USB Card Reader.

Best price I can find on a new 32GB Xoom: eBay Link

What do you guys think? Something I'm missing?

Why did I think you were talking about drugs?

Anyway I say as an apple fanboy go for the iPad 2 and then wait for it to be jailbroken and have a rave

Edit: once you're jailbroken you can do nearly anything with the software

Yeah once it's jailbroken it might even be on par with other tablets, at only a huge price difference.
Rofl.

The Xoom looks like a good one. The ebay auction looks legit. Though most of the sellers feedback is from being a buyer. As a seller it looks like he only has two (10 and $29 or something sales). The description describes the item sealed and brand new, so if it's anything less you're covered by ebay. Ditto for if any misconduct happens of course, but he does seem legit.

What can't the iPad do that others can besides Flash? I don't really find Flash necessary since HTML5 is becoming a standard and the YouTube and Vimeo apps. But, yeah, what can't the iPad do?

Isn't the Xoom the same price or more than the iPad?

But if Android is your thing, I would recommend the Samsumg Galaxy Tab 10.1.
It's thiner than the iPad and I have heard it is the best Android-powered tablet on the market.

I too am desperately wanting a shiny err I mean a tablet

But my best advice, knuckle under, wait till the Christmas season, or even better the post Christmas season when all the really killer deals occur.

Just a couple of more months man, hang in there, your wallet will thank you.

Currently unsure what I myself want. Has to be 10 inch screen and support a lot of things like storage USB ports and perfect choice has Windows 7 although I suppose Android is ok. I have no love for Apple.
