I have a PSP 3000 using 6.60 PRO-C2 and I cannot get the newest patch for this game to work as an eboot. When I load the game without popsloader it's just a black screen and I can still access the psx menu. I installed popsloader v4g and have tried most of the versions and cannot find one compatable. I use PSX2PSP to convert my eboot and I've also tried IceTea. I patch the game using xDelta. If someone has info on how to get this to work it'd be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Finally got it to work after 5,000 years of no help. If you need help PM me.

Yeah same here, the conditions I got it to work with are something like this; without popsloader, downgraded to 6.60PRO-b10(or something like that, I don't think it mattered), PSX2PSP, xDeltagui, and the patch from here http://www.tales-cless.org/patches/ToP test fix.7z you need to of course patch the JPN version of the game and I used 0 compression on PSX2PSP iirc.

It seemed like they deleted my posts on the pspiso website. Kind of annoying when trying to get an obscure game to work.

Lol I'm here too. I have no idea why that topic got deleted. It looks my entire account was deleted too. All I did was try posting a link to the patch twice and never got any indication that I was doing anything wrong. Not even an email saying my account was deleted. What a bunch of crap.

Yeah I agree that site is ridiculous, I was going to help them out by telling them in a new thread after the old one was deleted about this game but it seemed to need approving after I submitted it and never got it so then I just stopped caring.

I haven't made it too far into the game but there hasn't been any glitches or black screens as of yet and the translation is solid.

Sorry to revive that old post, but I can't get Tales Of Phantasia to work on psp go (infinity 6.61), no matter what popsloader version I use, I always get a black screen and sometime even a crash.
The version I use is the last Phantasian Productions one. I tried first patching my own game with the romhacking.net translation patch and convert it with psx2psp, then trying some other images found online, but all get the same result.
I saw someone mentioning a specific patch for the psp, but the tales-cless.org website is down and I can't find the patch anywhere online, does anybody has any idea on how to make it work?

So for people who can't make it work on their PSP (black screen), get the normal english patched PSX game, use psx2psp with compression around 3~4, and once done rename the folder to "SLPS01770".
It should work. I hope it can help some people ;)

While the prospect of running the PSX version with the Phantasian Productions patch seems cool, I'd be honest on saying that I'd rather pray that someone starts translating the PSP version of the game, which has full voice and some more extras.

I was waiting for the same, and I waited years that the guy behind absolute zero team who was doing some progress on it actually release anything publicly.
Sadly he suddenly dropped the project without sharing anything to anyone, so his work is lost forever.
After the long wait it just made me give up on the PSP version.
But to be honest the difference between PSX and PSP versions isn't huge, and sometime even for the worse since some voices were changed to not so great new versions.

So for the people that want to make this game work on PSP Go, here is how I managed to make it work:
Instead of trying to get a version of the game already converted, take your own PSX game, and then apply the patch to it. The pre converted version you can find online doesn't work.
Then convert it for PSP using PSX2PSP, with a compression not too high (the middle value I think), and change the game id to SLPS-01770.
Lastly, rename the game folder SLPS01770, which is also important apparently for the last version of pops.
Now the game should run on 6.61.

But you might have another problem, the translation patch adds a menu at startup to select the type of combo translation you want, and somehow at this point the game doesn't want to register any input.
With my PSP Go I am able to pass this point by connecting a DS3 controller, changing the input and resetting the game, but I don't know if it works on any other PSP without DS3 connected to it.
I saw somewhere online that the team responsible for the translation released a test patch to remove this screen (supposedly at http://www.tales-cless.org/patches/ToP test fix.7z), but I can't find it anywhere since their website is down.
If anybody still has this last patch, that would really help a lot, thanks ;)

I don't know if this is of any use to you now Stremon, but I found in a site a link of another account, that showed a new upload of that patch. Hope it helps :D

PS: You need to add "Dropbox" to the start of the link :D

Added the image pack, took me a bit to find how to get all the images that I needed (pic1.png being extracted from persona 2: eternal punishment, the others sourced from various internet places)

Ah crap, I didn't realized at first, but games crashes on psps go every time I enter the worldmap.
The previous patch of the same team had problem to boot and all which was solved in the new one.
Did anyone found a way to fix this game breaking issue?

Wholly crap, the OP lives in my city... O_O;

Is the American unpatched version of the game working?
There is no US version, this game was only released in Japan.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
