You should quit your bitching about piracy, it's always been like this.
This product will just HELP the scene
Sorry if I disagree. It just allows loading commercial games. Helping the scene is releasing vulnerabilities, keys, making public the schematics for that piece of hardware that they are using. Things like that. This prevents ease of access and avoids making people to ask themselves how things work, and how can they give it a new use.

It's not a matter of just piracy. It's a matter of people profiting on that. I just hope all this makes the prices of the Switch games to drop, because the same games for other platforms are some times half the price.
Nobody is forced to pay these guys, they are manufacturing something portable and physical and there are costs involved in that, if they want to profit on something morally questionable, well, that's capitalism folks there's far more morally questionable profit making businesses out there to give a shit about instead of caring about 'video game morals'.

But that's not what this is about, the claim is that this will kill the scene and the homebrew developers and I don't understand for one second how that could possibly be a result.

Btw, this is capitalism. Let the games begin!

You clearly have no idea of what you are talking about.
Back in the 3DS scene the Gateway3DS card literally started the hacking wave.

I don't think a commercial piece of hardware intended for loading commercial games is required for kickstart the scene in the case of the Switch. We got almost everything we needed.
You are missing a really important point when it comes to this kind of things...
And that is ease of access to all users in all firmwares with a user-ready CFW

What does this have to do with this modchip?
Well, you can test whatever homebrew in any firmware rather easily, or test a mod to a certain game, etc., all of this without limitations now.
The possibilities are endless, and unless Atmosphere gets released soon enough, this is the best bet for people who are waiting jump in the wagon all the way.

No more would people have to be limited to 3.0.0 Switches to develop homebrew.
Think what you want about piracy, but any kind of advancement in the Switch scene is a pro towards homebrew, whether you like it or not.

What we were really missing to start that hacking wave in the Switch? In the last month we gained access to almost the entire hardware of the console.

It looked pretty easy to me...

Not saying it isn't easy, I just have zero respect for people who profit off of piracy. Back in the day when flashcards were your only option it was fine, but these days they're just wrapping everything up into a pretty package with a pink ribbon for the leeches that have zero respect for the scene and just want to play their pirated copy of ARMS.

I'm not interested in Xecutor's CFW but if we can load our own payloads on the thing, then it's a convenient buy for me. I have no problem spending money on things that are worth it. But if it forces you to use their software then I'm not interested.
but maybe you will be able to do the same from an standard USB

That's a brilliant point, if we could use them to portably boot up Atmosphere or Linux then that would be great.

At the end of the day useability is a massive thing right now with jigs and tethering, I would happily pay for the manufacturing of a decent easy device.

Pre-orders apparantly by end of the week so we'll see how expensive this ends up being.

You are continually missing the point, even though several people have tried to point it out to you.
The example that GW kickstarted the scene is an example. The example of the concept that open source projects can learn from methods of commercial projects.
