no, i'm not, I appear to be the only person with a neutral stance in this whole mess, and that's what I get for it.

Well, he did kinda bring it upon himself, making false and unsubstantiated accusations and other baseless epithets, insulting staff with unwarranted attacks, and so on. There are better ways of expressing one's anger without insulting
every single person or making up stories about nonexistent death threats. It's okay to be neutral, I just hope no one tries to defend or justify his actions.

Mate, nobody cares. Drama is drama. It's what feeds our drive.

Your drive and some other people but there's at least a few that don't care and despite what he did I think it's kind of fucked up that certain people followed his every thread even after calling him a freak or stating like your mom and every thread he made that's harassment and it can lead people to suicide.

I admit. There were some instances that went a bit too far... But he did nothing to avoid it.

A bit too far is a little of an understatement, of course he won't, hell some suicidal people will continue to do things that put them in situations where people will continue to pick on them instead of reporting people and moving aka as talk to someone about it and seek help professionally. Do we know he was suicidal? No but we can all agree that this was not only handled badly but that some of the "community" involved were being pieces of shit too, without any public warnings being handed out.

This^
Especially seeing as he could've tried to keep it within staff/people it involved instead of throwing it all onto the community without proof/many chatlogs to fully support what he was saying.
He wasn't helping himself and if the community was as he'd said he should've realised he wasn't going to change anything by being salty and trying to "expose it". He was encouraging it if anything. Hell he was trying to cause more toxic.

The internet is the internet. Take it too seriously, you're a moron.

Is it a mess? Storm in a teacup, much ado about nothing and so forth is how I would categorise it... except there is not really any ado as it is a complete non issue and most people seem to recognise that. To take a neutral stance would seem to imply that the claims that underpin whatever this is are in any way worth considering.

There have been dramas and traumas in the past. This ain't that.

Look... We are NOT responsible for anyone's mental health. It just doesn't work that way. I'm sorry, but that's the truth. If he is depressed/suicidal? Then I hope he gets the help he needs.

I never said you were responsible for his mental health I said people acted like shitty people to a shitty situation and harassment was being thrown around. There's nothing that can be done about it now but I would hope that in the future some consideration would be shown instead of throwing shade at someone who is obviously a bit unstable and like someone told him just report it and move on there's no need for this, and I was shown some true colors of some people involved that I didn't think they could stoop so low but alas it is what it is. My only concern is for future moderation, like I don't even know if simple harassment is allowed or not.

Realistically? It shouldn't be. It should have been shut down right away. However, you can look at it like a massive shit fest... Or you can view it as people defending what they consider to be a "home" of sorts.

Yeah, when I was first reading through the things I was surprised it was still open since not to long ago, with the guy who sold someone else's exploit/info, those threads would become close fairly quickly with a message saying it was closed and will be resolved internally. In certain situations a shit fest and "defending your home" can be one in the same and I think this is one of those situations. It reminded me of when people riot but they are only destroying their homes/community. I also can't really see a website as a home of sorts but if that's what some people think I suppose that's fine but if that's the case they may have more pressing issues to attend to. Believing that a website is a home is fine but when it goes so far that you would be willing to bash, harass and insult someone over it then it's merely and obsession and that's not healthy either.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
