Personally, I've been looking forward to having a good discussion about this for a while now, I just didn't have any time.
Before I start I just want to say that all of the points I make in this post are just my thoughts. So you don't have to go attacking me for something that I wanna discuss. This is gonna talk mostly about the Switch's software, not necessarily anything hardware related.
The switch has amazing third party games, but I feel like it's really been lacking in the amount and quality of its first party content, which is something I don't hear a lot of people discussing for some reason. Mario Maker 2 was supposed to be an expansion from the original but it really doesn't add a whole lot of elements, and I still think we're missing some stuff people would like to see. (Like a super Mario Bros. 2 U.S. theme cough)
Another thing I dislike about the Switch when it comes to software is that there's no backwards-compatibility. Sure there are a few retro titles available on the eShop, but what about the massive library of NES, SNES, and N64 games that were on the Wii Shop Channel? Even the 3DS has more compatibility in that sense.
And hackers from the homebrew scene have proven that the Switch has little to no problem running GameCube, Wii and even Wii U games, so that's something Nintendo definitely could and should look into.
Now... let's talk about Nintendo Switch Online... The first thing that I want to get into is the perks, or, what you get once you have a Switch Online membership. You finally get a couple of NES and SNES games to play, but the selection of games chosen for both those consoles, aren't the best of the bunch. If you want a true S/NES experience I'd say, buy one of the mini consoles; those are great.
Switch Online really just feels to me like a wasted opportunity. It still can improve, but I just don't like the fact that in order to do things like voice chat, you have you use your phone.. at that point, why not just call the person? Sometimes, Nintendo is really innovative, but other times they act like they don't know how to make games right. Mind you, Sony and Microsoft have been allowing you to do voice chat properly since the days of the XBOX 360 and PS3.
What do you guys think about all of these things I mentioned? Do you agree? Do you disagree? I'd love to hear your comments, so please do!
