Are you ready for a system software update? No, not for the Nintendo Switch, but the Wii U! It's been quite a while since we've seen one of these--the last update was issued in September of 2018, in fact. A brand new firmware update is available for the console, bringing it to version number 5.5.5. The official changelog is helpful as usual, giving us that magical sentence we can always expect from Nintendo. Keep an eye on this thread and hopefully we'll find out what exactly this update actually brings to the table.

Oh! I thought you meant red. I think blinking orange means you're in standby mode, you can disable that, which I would - no need to keep it powered if you're barely using it at all.

As far as I know the service will discontinue at the source, you won't be able to connect anymore.

Yes, normally an orange light in standby means there's a pending download waiting for you when you start the system up, however IIRC custom firmware seems to have a persistent problem with a blinking orange light in standby regardless of the download queue. I'm not entirely sure why, but the issue is benign. The easiest way to get rid of the blinker is to disable standby altogether, or you can just ignore it - it doesn't mean anything if those are the circumstances.

What about the 99.99.99 E from the consoles with CHBC? Will this be overruled by the new update? Or since it's like the console is on a "higher" version, it won't update to the new OFW version?

It's got CFW yeah, CBHC I think.
Up until now I just ignored it with an occasional complaint when it was blinking.

Well since the Nintendo Switch does not support the Gamecube Emulator fluently the Wii U ist really nice for Gamecube Games. So I am still using it

I still play my Wii U, just beat Breath Of The Wild on it. It’s not a bad console. It has its share of great games on it. I’m sure there are a lot of people out there who still play this console, hell, I still play the Wii from time to time.

This, no emulator will beat gamecube games running natively on hardware, Wii U is truly the only modern way without hardware mods to play GameCube games via HDMI output as well as the Wii, not to mention VC injections for officially made emulators for the DS/GBA/N64/SNES/NES, the Wii U along with a 3DS covers the entirety of Nintendo's history of console games, I don't think any new system from Nintendo will ever beat the library of games the WiiU and 3DS have access to.

It's not big issue. Update if you want to renew browser SSL certificates validity (if you use Wii U browser). That's the only changelog I believe..

This made me curious so I decided to check if my (European) Wii U would update, and it did.
Fortunately, it didn't brick with CBHC installed.
