Hi having trouble confirming which 3ds I have has a IPS or TN screen.

I think the Maj. Mask and the Black N3DS have IPS can anyone confirm?

It is strange - there is another test I had seen out there using this website - http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php

I see different results between the two systems.

Blue Old 3DS XL : I can see the squares starting at number 8 on both screens
Lime Green N3DS : I can see the squares starting at number 4 on both screens

So it could be the lagom test is not an accurate way to tell between ips and tn screens.

Just to confirm on my own test. I finally got homebrew running and 3dsident. I can confirm that the lcd-test black squares test does not work. All of my screens are TN by 3ds ident, but some get an IPS score from the lcd test. So H0thTr0n was right on in the analysis from my pictures.

Hello guys if you happen to have Mario N3DS, FE N3DSXL and Hyrule N3ds XL with DUAL IPS
I'd like to ask if you compare these 3 units side by side. By any chance, is there a unit with a better quality Dual IPS screen? or maybe the bottom IPS screen seems to be better quality than the TOP IPS screen?
Seems to me that the Hyrule N3DS XL has better quality bottom IPS screen than the top IPS. Does it apply to all DUAL IPS units?

It just that bottom has extra layer for touch, it's darker and not as bright and yellow as the one on top.

Run screeninfo.3dsx to know for sure.

Yep, those look like dual TN.

Yes, you can. You may not be able to install CFW, but at the least you can use the homebrew launcher to run a 3dsx file.
