So could someone use the same .DVD file if they either:

1. Renamed the ISO to the one in the file
2. Edited the file for the name of the ISO
No, the info of the .dvd file must match the .iso file. You can check the .dvd file by opening it with notepad.
You said the games have the same layerbreak, so wouldn't that mean you can use the same .DVD file?

Anyways, trying burning with Clone CD...
Yes, but like I said, open the .dvd file up with notepad and you will see how it's matched the the .iso to the same name. Just because there's a match, doesn't mean each layerbreak is different.

Ok I've made an example for you since I think you don't quite get it.

http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/8007/captureike.jpg

When you open a .dvd file up in notepad, a screen like that shows up. It will display the name of the .iso file and below that it will say layerbreak=(the layerbreak for the .iso, which for the 360 is 1913760). Since it displays the name of the .iso, it will only work with that .iso. Technically, you can use the same .dvd file for other .iso files, by opening it in notepad and editing it.

I hope someone can explain it better than I can, I'm just trying to educate you here.

That's what I said, you edit the name of the ISO to match the one you are using and leave the layer break since it's the same.

And burning with clone CD did the same thing.

Here's how to set a layerbreak in imgburn
Open the imgburn and go to Tools --> Settings
Click the write tab
In the top right corner click the dot that says user specified then input 1913760
Hit ok and try burning again.

Oh yeah make sure your autofix for abgx is set to level 3. In your first post it says the dmi and pfi are blank for Oblivion. Did it ever autofix?

I don't believe it is a fw problem because those aren't wave 3 games.

Well I guess you wouldn't. But I would set it that way and select the iso instead of a .dvd file the next time you burn. Do you know which fw version you have? Do you have any games that do work or are these the first you have burned?

I do not know the FW version and have never played a burnt game in it yet. Is there a way to find out the firmware version?

Who did you get this console from?
Who did you pay to mod?

^How ever that branches off, find the person at the end of the trail and ask them.

ouch. Only way to find out is to dump the firmware and see it its an iXtreme. That's the only way to find out. If you bruned GTAIV correctly it would play even on lower iXtreme ver (IIRC) 1.4

Either pay someone to do it or do it yourself. Doing it yourself would save you in the long run.

That is the point. New version of firmware are released so they can stay "ahead" of MS security detection. If I payed someone to do it when I first modded my system I'd still be on 1.4. Now I'm on IIRC 1.5.X. Newest ver is 1.6. *I just don't have the time to do it right now.*

in general, thats the idea but 1.6 doesnt really add anything
in security terms either, just made it easier to rip your own games to your computer

where as 1.51 did, third wave video support allowing you play all the new 360 games
nothing else besides that but warranted an update none the less

In a word, no. All 360 games, in order to work, have to be 1:1 backups. A single bit changed would chance the CRC of the game and potentially get you banned from LIVE.

Besides, even with a fully updated dashboard, it does nothing to stop you playing burnt games.

Now another thing about the whole "To play this disk, put it in an Xbox360 console" thing. On behalf of a friend whose Xbox is about to go up on ebay, is it possible to fix an xbox that keeps saying this about every game put inside?

It sounds to me like the laser is going, in which case either a replacement laser or an entire new disk drive is required to fix it. I've been searching online for more information about this error, but all I can find are fake posts advertising the "Xbox360 repair guide", people complaining that they have the same problem, or people saying the obvious - check the connections, clean the laser, replace the laser, replace the drive. I've yet to see a report on a method that actually worked. Any more help anyone can offer?

It's impossible to make 1:1 copies since burned disks don't have the security parts that originals have. The whole point of flashing the drive is so you don't need a 1:1 copy.

the legal drinking age here in the US is 21, as some of you may know, but i think either it should be 18 or the age you're an adult should be 21.
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and i know what you may be thinking, "why become an adult at 21? doesn't that mean that banging an 18 year old would be illegal?"
first of all, being in a relationship with someone who's 18 is technically ok, as long as it started when they were 18, but the age gap is still weird depending on how old you are. besides, the age of consent differs between different states

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also my reasoning for adult age being 21 is because the reason that's the drinking (and now smoking) age is because it "gives them more time to think rationally and not drive drunk"
so you should have that extra time to mature and think rationally before going to serve in the military or vote

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
tl;dr the "adult" age and the legal drinking age (and voting age) here in the US should be the same

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What about making kids wait till 18 or 21 to drive? And yea is messed up, you can join army and die for your country at age 18, but you can't drink alcohol or smoke a cig til 21, is ridiculous

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
If someone is in the military they should be allowed to smoke and drink at 18.... Would help drive recruitment lol

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
We all know they do and will anyways. I think laws prevented them only pushes them to illegally do it. Even tho if was legal, most prob wouldn't even bother. Not a big deal or risque if its legal, no fun.

That's why some kids don't mind having a rap sheet or two just so they never get drafted

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also, i think the voting age should match the adult and drinking ages too, because by the logic of giving them time to mature and think rationally so they don't drive drunk, then they should also have that time to mature and think rationally so they can think for themselves
