Yeah maybe people not on 8.x.x right now should, IDK, wait until more info is revealed before jumping the gun?
Nah. June 15
Thanks for explaining this a lot better to those who didn't understand what sciresM's tweet/discord announcement was saying. I've noticed some people saying units with RCM exploit will brick if you have AutoRCM. It's just funny howI've seen this confusion that some users have caused.
1) If your Switch is able to run RCM exploit, you're fine. Your Switch won't suddenly turn in to a paper weight if you run AutoRCM.
2) Any Switch that is iPatched shouldn't ever do AutoRCM! Not until SciresM, Rei, Tux or someone else manage to find a sneaky way to boot iPatched units with RCM exploits (maybe never...).
The ONLY THING 8.0 does is to patch the Deja Vu software exploit. It's a warmboot exploit, that abuses the system after it booted to normal Switch operation.
So no bricks, no sadness. Wait for SXOS, Atmosphere and ReiNX to get updated. Then keep on do what you always do.
4.1 support will come first, but it's theoretically possible for every firmware up until 7.0.1.I thought warmboot requires <4.1. Is that outdated info now? Everyone below 7.1 can get warmboot. Awesome if true.
Game over. For now. I'm sure that sdsetup.com will update the downgrade method soon for 8.0 but if you do that you will always have to use a custom bootloader to boot your switch. At least until CFW supports 8.0I accidentally updated still half asleep in the tube my switch early this morning from 7.0.1 (atmosphere 0.8.7 + autorcm) to 8.0. No Backup as I thought I had somewhere, but I can still inject payloads (pkg1 unknown). Any chances to bring my unit to life or game over for me?
geez, okGame over. For now. I'm sure that sdsetup . com will update the downgrade method soon for 8.0 but if you do that you will always have to use a custom bootloader to boot your switch. At least until CFW supports 8.0
The workaround is to downgrade to the highest 6.x firmware Choi does support, then update from there using ChoiNX homebrew. If you don't have save backups tho you might just want to wait for atmosphere update.geez, ok
since ChoiDujour does not support fw>6.20 i think we have more chances for a new cfw update
