Hacking Unban (new console ID?) and revert to OFW?

Hey guys, I've long had an old Phat PS3 (the one with hardware ps2 backwards compat!) and long ago it was banned when CFW was pretty fresh. I've since kept up with updating the CFW but of course it's still banned.

I've sort of read things like you can buy new IDs or something and bake them into the system with some homebrew app to get unbanned, is that a real thing?

If so... would it be possible to buy the new ID, bake it into the console, then flash over the CFW safely with OFW and proceed safely online with a new clean system?

I did do a bit of research but this scenario was not specifically answered, hoping someone here might know...

And to think I've binned like 6 old fat PS3s that were never banned, because of YLOD.

Garbage systems like that would have been perfect donors.
