I've been trying different things to get sound in Rayman. Psxvcd did not help. Isobuster neither. Next up is cdmage as per this reddit post

Oh and Tombi EU Pal runs perfectly fine at 50fps with frameskip set to 1. It's one of those games where it isn't too noticeable.

I've tried cdmage without succes with rayman.
Used it before converting to .pbp before, no dice.

This exact issue has been dealt with for other platforms some time ago.
Seems it didn't fix the 3ds port yet.

There's still an open issue referencing this on github.

Ah, I see. In that case I guess we shouldn't expect any music in games that use the same cdda music, so Tekken 1, Adventures of Lomax, Silhouette Mirage, Tomb Raider etc.

This is great! Have had success using chdman to convert to chd, and noticed a big difference on N3DS with the nightly PCSXrearmed. Games that used to be "playable" now run full speed and ones that used to be unplayable run ok now :)

This should be fixed in the latest nightly builds.

I've tried to run Rayman USA with latest nightly trying to see if redbook audio works with no luck. The game boots up, but after 5 secs it just crashes on an arm11 exception. The other games seem to run as usual, like Bomberman world booted up and ran as normal.

Tons of games crash on the latest stable and nightly for some reason. It’s a pretty big step back

Strange. It works fine when I build it myself, but the release version crashes with a svcBreak when I load Rayman. I'll see if it's caused by a difference between current libctru and the older version that the buildbot builds with, that's the only thing that comes to mind.

Would you mind posting your builds of this and the FBA cores?

I don't have a copy of the FBA core at hand, but this is a pcsx that should be fixed. I just opened a new PR, so the fix will hopefully be in the next nightly or the one after that.

I tested this yesterday and it ran Rayman with cd audio at 90fps with no audio sync or vsync, so great work! Thank you so much! I'll test some more games with this like Megaman X3, Adventures of Lomax etc.

For comparison the latest stable 1.7.9 crashes when I try to run Rayman and I tried booting it several times.

I also tried using that psp ps1bios that some people say boosts performance but I didn't experience any change tbh.

Hey i really appreciate you making this and all. I just gave this a try though and it still crashes right after the intro in doom and in the same spots on other games I was testing.

Tested and cd audio worked perfectly in Adventures of Lomax, Mega Man X3, Tactics Ogre (cd audio only in intro and menu and maybe ending credits).

I tried In the Hunt as well and even if the game ran at 80fps there was regular crackling in the music. I'm not sure what caused this. I used a redump of it and .chd. It's not a big problem during gameplay since you'll mostly be hearing explosions anyways.

Well RetroArch 1.7.9 (v2) is officiall out, including for the 3DS, and all I can read from postings is that nothing works and everything crashes. :(

Every single core crashes my 3ds lol.

.3dsx version or .cia? Which cores are you trying? Are they crashing immediately when you load them, or sometime later when playing a game?

I'll give Doom a try -- it looks like there are some games that still have specific crashing bugs. Brave Fencer Musashi is another one I've heard mentioned. If there are repeatable crashes, like in a certain game at a certain place, those are useful to know about and usually much more fixable.

There are also random crashes with pcsx_rearmed and gpSP that I think are dynarec related. They've been happening for as long as I've used those cores. I just started looking into them but I haven't had much luck debugging those yet. Sometimes I'll go days without seeing one, other times it seems like they'll happen every hour.
