Hello!

I started modding my Wii last week and I’m running into some issue that I was hoping somebody can help me with. It seems that whenever I try to load up a game that has been split into 2 wbfs files, it will not boot up. I’m using an SD card, so the limit of the file I can install is 4 GB. I used WiiBackupManager to transfer the file to the SD card and it’s splitting the original file into two files: one with the extension wbfs and another one with wbf1. When I open USB loader gx on the Wii, I can see the game (guitar hero 5) appear in the game list. When I press start however, it goes to a black screen and from there it freezes and I need to hard reset the Wii.

Other games (including guitar hero world tour) that are smaller in size and only use a single wbfs file can boot up just fine. I tried to load up another game that was bigger than 4 GB and had to be split and that one failed in the same way. Next, I installed the game on a USB stick as well (again with WiiBackupManager) and the result is exactly the same: there are two files -> the game appears in the list -> black screen when booting it up. I tried to start the game on the Dolphin emulator on my laptop to check if the file is corrupt, but here it runs fine. I also installed Wiiflow to check if that has different results, but it also doesn’t work (when doing this, first of all it doesn’t recognize the game, but when I load it up manually by going into the file explorer and selecting the file it shows a loading bar, but after it’s completed the screen stays black).

So as I said in the beginning, it looks to me that it has something to do with trying to use two wbfs files. Could the problem be with WiiBackupManager? It looks like it is working fine for everyone else so I doubt it, but who knows. Is there other software out there that does the same that I can check?

I have also made a syscheck that can be seen below:

Ok forget all of the above. I solved it and it was an IOS problem. I just noticed in my syscheck that I did not even have one installed for slot 250. I then found this link: htps://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Wii_cIOS_base_Compatibility_List and adjusted the slots according to the latest message. 249 to 56, 250 to 57 and 251 to 58. Now everything is working. Apologies for the useless thread.
